Haven Jamboree: Top Performances In The Paint

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Haven Wildcats hosted a 10-team Jamboree on June 21.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Girls Hoops scouted several of the games from the event. Games were played with two 13-minute halves and a running clock.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This report focuses on players in the paint who had solid contributions in the games scouted.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='300806' first='Easha' last='Potts']</strong>, 5'10", PF, Dodge City, '24</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Potts is a scoring threat inside for the Lady Demons and can pass the ball as well as some point guards. She scored 13 points in a 10-point win over Northwest High School (Wichita). She finished with two rebounds and two assists in that same game. Potts is currently ranked No. 102 in the PGH Kansas ranking for the Class of 2024.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Vivian Nguyen</strong>, 5'7”, F, Dodge City, ‘24</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ngyuen is a raw talent that I really like. She can post up, play shut-down defense inside, and will look to score. She finished with four points from the paint in the win over Northwest. She is a good passer. She for sure should garner looks by JUCO programs in Western Kansas and NAIA schools in the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Erica Block</strong>, 6'0”, F, Cheney ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Block is a tall timber in the middle of the paint. She is heading into her junior season and has the tools to be an inside scoring threat. I watched the Cardinals play two contests and Block accumulated six points and six rebounds in those two games combined. One area of improvement for the Cheney prospect is to catch the ball and immediately make her offensive move. She hesitates before looking to score.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='544003' first='Avery' last='Brawner']</strong>, 5'11", CG, Haven. ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brawner had one of the best all-around performances at Haven. In a six-point victory of Clearwater, she scored eight points and cleaned the glass for five rebounds. She is a physical player who can drive the ball to the basket or play with her back to the basket. She shot 2-for-4 from the free-throw line. The Haven prospect is currently ranked No. 21 in the PGH Kansas ranking for the Class of 2026.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Emily O'Brien</strong>, 6'0”, F, Remington, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the younger players to really stand out during the Jamboree was Remington prospect, O'Brien. She scored 10 points in a loss to Cheney. She shot 5-of-8 from the field and grabbed five rebounds. She is lanky and can run the floor. Her rebound total was all about hustle and beating other players to the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
