Plenty more 2026 content will be continuing with the release of our 2026 rankings, but this article will focus on the all-freshman team for the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference for the 2022-23 season.
Emma Fowler Emma Fowler SG Bogota | 2026 State NJ – Bogota
Fowler was one of our final players included in this list, and she edged out a few others due to her three-point shooting ability, hitting 47 on the year, an average of 2.2 threes a game. Just over 70 percent of her scoring came from beyond the arc, but quickly established herself as one of the best perimeter shooters in the conference. All told, she averaged 9.5 PPG, 4.0 RPG and just under 1.0 APG in 21 games.
Lena Most Lena Most 5'5" | PG Montclair Immaculate | 2026 State NJ – Dwight-Englewood
The top scorer on one of the best teams in the NJIC, Most made an impact from the get-go, averaging 12.3 PPG, 2.8 RPG and nearly 3.0 APG in 24 games along with over four steals a game and 1.2 made three-pointers a game. She was one of the most well-rounded guards in the conference and has the stats to back it up.
Natalia Valdez Natalia Valdez 5'8" | SG Dwight-Englewood | 2026 NJ – Dwight-Englewood
Most’s teammate, Valdez, was equally impressive in her first season of high school basketball, especially from the three-point line where she knocked down 68 threes. In 24 games, Valdez averaged 11.2 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 1.3 APG along with just under two steals a game and 2.8 made threes a game, among the conference leaders in the category. She finished her season strong, averaging 12.8 PPG in her final nine games.
Angelica Do Angelica Do 5'7" | PG Leonia | 2026 State NJ – Leonia
Do’s freshman year was an impressive one from a defensive perspective, though she did average 10.4 PPG in 24 games. Along with nearly 3.5 assists a game and 5.8 rebounds a game, she managed to averaged 8.1 steals a game on the year, including seven games with 10+ steals. Just from her incredible defense, she posted five double-doubles in the points and steals variety.
Brooke Harper Brooke Harper 6'1" | C Lyndhurst | 2026 State NJ – Lyndhurst
Harper’s stats might not jump off the page like some others on this list, averaging 7.3 PPG and 9.2 RPG in 27 games, but her strength is her defense, and that was nothing short of spectacular. Overall, the forward nearly reached 100 blocks in a season, averaging 3.2 a game, as well as averaging 2.1 steals a game. She’s not far off from double-double averages and her defense was critical for Lyndhurst.
Lyla Stokes Lyla Stokes SG Waldwick | 2026 State NJ – Waldwick
Stokes is easily one of our top candidates for NJIC Freshman of the Year, putting up great all-around numbers as a freshman, with 12 PPG, 4.1 RPG and 1 APG in 25 games. On top of that, she hovered around 75 percent shooting from the foul line and recorded just over a block a game and 2.7 steals a game. Multi-dimensional players like Stokes can affect a game in a number of ways, and she’s done a lot already to establish herself within the NJIC.
