Incoming freshman could play with their high schools, and we could catch a glimpse of who will be stepping up for their teams after many of them had seniors graduating shifting the focus of their teams. Let’s take a look at the ball handlers that stood out at the event.
Lili Booker Lili Booker 5’7″ | CG Mallard Creek | 2024 State NC is so explosive flashing all over the court getting open for the pass. She makes the defense move even if she doesn’t get the pass, and when she does get the ball, she’s quick with it attacking the basket for some points. She is always running full speed on both ends of the court attacking the passing lanes or attacking the basket.
Jada Whitesides Jada Whitesides 5’3″ | PG East Rutherford | 2024 State NC had some nice moves rolling the ball off her fingertips at the rim to score some points. She was quick on defense getting in front of her opponents deflecting the ball. She had a nice possession using some nice ball fakes and crossovers to create space and draining the shot from deep.
Maya McCorkle Maya McCorkle 5’9″ | CG Cannon | 2025 State NC showed off her range shooting the ball, and she continues to show off quick handles getting by opponents attacking the basket. She had a nice finish in the paint hustling to the basket and putting a soft touch on her shot to get the points. She crashed the boards, too, going after rebounds. She had a tremendous play hustling back on defense making a nice block to stop the play.
Brooklyn Saunders Brooklyn Saunders 5’5″ | PG Butler | 2025 State NC might be able to teach a running back clinic the way she can tuck in the ball as she drives to the hoop releasing it off her fingertips and into the basket. She can battle through any kind of contact making some old fashioned three point plays. Her ability to lead her team directing them where to go has been on display the past several seasons, and that is sure to continue.
Oshauna Holland Oshauna Holland 5’7″ | PG Stuart Cramer | 2026 State NC has such nice handles with the ball being able to keep it low and away from her defenders. She keeps her eyes up and peeled all across the court making some nice passes right into her teammates’ hands as they cut to the basket. Her hands were constantly touching the ball on defense stripping it away from her opponents and pushing it up the court.
