The definition of an explosive scorer may differ depending on who you talk to. For me, an explosive scorer is someone who maximizes their point total with limited shot attempts and they don't need many shots to get going before they stay hot. Here are five of those girls in the class of 2025:

[player_tooltip player_id='388347' first='Mikayla' last='Stacy'], Wayne, SF, 5-10, Jr. - Stacy can hurt an opposing team on their defensive end. Fast. One minute they may think they have her in check only to find out that she's tossed in six quick points and taken control of the quarter. What's so great about Stacy though is she's also a kid who can quickly get a team two or four points when you need them and she'll finish the game with like 10 points, but she went 5-for-5 from the field. There are other times where she simply can turn her game up to the maximum and look like the leader of the Pioneers. She's easily among Wayne's top candidates to finish a game as the leading scorer. And on a Pioneer team who already has two players who stretch the floor in Brooke and [player_tooltip player_id='379526' first='Addie' last='Adkins'], that is simply deadly for their opponents. I have never known this kid to complain about shots, either. She usually makes the most of what she has and usually understands if it isn't her night to be the leader. However, it doesn't stop her from making the most of the shots she gets and surprisingly finishing a game with 10 to 12 points on 60% shooting.

[player_tooltip player_id='342212' first='Hannah' last='Stemple'], University, SG, 5-5, Jr. - Stemple isn't going to shoot over a ton of defenders, but when she's got a clean look at the basket, you normally walk away with a good feeling. She can turn her shot on in a hurry, thus becoming an absolute menace with just a few flicks of the wrist. I personally watched her hit seven 3s against Parkesburg South last year as she dueled the Patriots' [player_tooltip player_id='558873' first='Lucie' last='Cline'] in a tight game. Are there games where she may struggle to get open, possibly, she's going to have to work very hard to get her own shot most of the time, because people do guard her so closely. But, she's sneaky about coming off screens and seizing the opportunities for the quick shot where she can get it. She's going to help a low D-II, Division III, or NAIA school stretch the floor every time she hits the hardwood.

Siya Smith, George Washington, SF, 5-10, Jr. - Oh boy, what can I say about Siya Smith other than she pretty much bodies an explosive scorer. When her confidence is on and she's letting it fly, the shots are going in and the points are adding up fast. Really fast. She's the kind of kid who GW feeds when she's making shots because the threat for more is always just a shot away. I can't count on one hand the number of times I have seen her suddenly explode for 10 points in a quarter. It has to be at least half a dozen or greater. Does she benefit for a fantastic GW roster around her, and playing with three Division I players, sure. But, she knows what her job and has little problem being that person that the Patriots can turn to when they need a spark. She can easily shoot you back into a ball game in just one quarter. I love this young ladies' attitude, athleticism and overall approach she takes to shooting the basketball when she's on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='722964' first='Addie' last='Issacs'], Midland Trail, CG, 5-8, Jr. - While I have never actually seen [player_tooltip player_id='722964' first='Addie' last='Issacs'] play in person, I have not been completely oblivious to her achievements down in Hico. I have paid close attention to interviews, news reports and lootpress coverage of the Wildcats. And, I have learned that not only is she a humble player, but she's very talented and simply balls out for Midland Trail. She's a kid who could make a living at the next level on and-1s. Her ability at drawing contact makes her a perfect person to live at the free-throw line. She's also learned the Class AAA brand of basketball, as her coach willingly chose to move Trail up two classes. Thanks to that choice, she's a tougher and more experienced player than she would have been had the team stayed in Class A. She's a kid who uses her crossover as often as she shots the smart, just-inside-the-arc 2 and it has paid dividends for her. Does she have trouble shooting the 3? Not at all, she will take the high percentage shot over the 3 most times and it pays off with points in a hurry. I am excited to watch her in person this season. Trail has a very long team with great defenders, scorers and their region is wide open. It may not be too long before the state gets to see her in Charleston.

[player_tooltip player_id='342217' first='Kaitlyn' last='Blake'], Wheeling Central, SF, 5-9, Jr. - Blake may not take a ton of shots, but she doesn't need to take a ton of shots. She makes count the ones she does take. In every game, she takes her time lining up the right shot and lets it fly for maximum effect. Heck, she shot 55% from the floor last season with 3s, short range 2s, and layups making up the majority of her bucket. True, she's not a kid whose going to blow you away with her speed, but she doesn't need to as she has her length. Her long arms make it that much harder to stop her shot and that is saying something as she's played against some big time teams in West Virginia and Ohio the last two years. Morgantown, Wheeling Park, Union Local, and several others have been a staple of the Monarchs' schedule. If you need a kid who can get hot, but she won't complain about her shot attempts, than take a look at Blake.
