From stellar defense to lights-out shooting, from steady execution to dynamic offensive bursts, there are a lot of different ways to impact a basketball game. At the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit Legacy Region Finals, we saw it all this weekend. As a result, these five players made their mark at Wayzata High School to earn the much-admired designation as Game Changers.
Carmen Kadlec Carmen Kadlec 6'1" | PF Rochester Mayo | 2025 State MN & Lexie Klecker Lexie Klecker 6'0" | PF Owatonna | 2025 State MN – 2025 forwards, Air Minnesota
Block a shot in dramatic fashion. That will make you a game changer. During Saturday’s matchup with FBC North, Kadlec sprinted out of nowhere from behind to hunt down FBC’s Jazmin Daing Jazmin Daing 6'1" | CG Rochester JM | 2027 State MN , who was on her way to an easy transition basket. Nope. Kadlec went airborne and swatted the ball out of bounds in highlight-reel fashion. That got the crowd roaring, and the look on Jazmin’s face was priceless. Nothing she could do but smile. In fact Kadlec (from Rochester Mayo) and Klecker (from Owatonna) threw a block party all weekend for their squad. The Air Minnesota twin towers, both standing over 6 feet tall, used their superior length and size to create tips and deflections, haul down rebounds in traffic and block shots as their team went 3-1 at the tournament.
Emily Vogel Emily Vogel 5'10" | CG St. Mary Catholic | 2025 State WI – 2025 guard, Wisconsin Blizzard Chase
Go on the attack. Then do it again. And attack some more. Players who are aggressive on offense always stand out from the get-go and they change the game while they’re at it. That’s what Emily did when we watched the Blizzard on Sunday. It’s hard to miss the 5’10 guard from St. Mary Catholic in Neenah. She is everywhere. With advanced skills, a ton of strength, and nice athleticism, she has the tools to get to the rim and score and that is exactly what she does. Vogel averaged over 12 points, nearly five rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game last winter. We were impressed with Emily’s attack mentality when we watched her earlier in the AAU season in Milwaukee. This weekend simply reinforced our opinion. It’s not hard to see why she is ranked in the Top 50 by PGH Wisconsin.
Betsy Gillette Betsy Gillette 5'8" | SG Hayfield | 2026 State MN – 2026 guard, Air Minnesota
Execute. That’s what the athletic guard from Hayfield does. She just makes plays, whether that’s through distribution, scoring or defense. Everywhere Air Minnesota has gone this summer scouts have been singing Betsy’s praises. They like her length, athleticism and aggressiveness. They like her ability to make things happen under pressure. Mostly they like her potential. “With her size, strength, and skill looking forward,” our colleague Jeremy Brooks wrote back in April, “she is going to be big-time prospect out of the state of Minnesota before her high school career comes to an end and she takes her talents to the college game.” So right. Gillette is ranked #44 in the PGH Minnesota Class of 2026.
Regan Juenemann Regan Juenemann 5'9" | CG Duluth Marshall | 2025 State MN – 2025 guard, FBC North
Light it up! That’s what Regan can do, and she does it on a regular basis for FBC’s 17U squad. Juenemann is one of the most exciting players in Minnesota. The Duluth Marshall guard is crazy athletic, with a ton of speed in the open court, elite quickness on both sides of the ball, and the ability to score any which way you want. If there’s a videographer shooting from the sidelines there’s a pretty good chance the 5’10 junior-to-be is going to make the highlight reel. Ranked #15 in Minnesota’s Class of 2025, Regan just makes things happen and she can flat out score the basketball. Last winter she had a 42-point game against Maranatha, topped the 30-point mark on two other occasions, and was in the 20s in more than 10 other games. Players who can do that are going to be game changers.
