When I first had the chance to see Betsy Gillette Betsy Gillette 5'8" | SG Hayfield | 2026 State MN compete last season, I was blown away. I don’t remember what Air Minnesota team she was on specifically but she stood out to me right away because of her mixture of size and ability on the floor. She seemed to always make the right play and she is somewhat crafty in everything she does. Like I said, she has solid size for her position, she is quick off the dribble, and she makes great choices in tight situations. As long as she comes locked in this weekend, I’m expecting more of the same. Which says a lot because she is playing with an impressive 2025 Air Minnesota Jech team this year, that has several impressive play-makers. If they give it their best effort, they are going to have a great weekend as a whole.

Lengthy and Athletic. Has a good amount of skill with the ball in her hands. A player that her team tries to get the ball too at least once a possession to see if she can make something happen. Hard worker who works on defense. She communicates well to her teammates and coaches. With her size, strength, and skill looking forward, she is going to be big-time prospect out of the state of Minnesota before her high school career comes to an end and she takes her talents to the college game.

Air Minnesota 2026 this weekend put on a good performance, showing that they are the real deal in the 2026 class and ready to take on anyone this spring/summer. One of their most impressive players was Betsy Gillette Betsy Gillette 5'8" | SG Hayfield | 2026 State MN . Gillette showed off that her length and athleticism can be a real game changer when she is working smart out there, wether it be on offense or defense. Shooting the ball she showed that she can get hot quickly while attacking the hoop in a plethora of ways coming down the court. This weekend she showed me that she has a fairly high ceiling looking forward. It’ll be interesting what the future holds but if she keeps working hard, it looks really promising.

Betsy is sneaky good. Her game is kind of subtle. She doesn’t play particularly fast. She doesn’t look to make the highlight reels. She’s all about the business at hand. That’s what we saw this summer from Gillette when she made our All-Tournament Team at the PGH Circuit Legacy Classic in Omaha. She’s got nice height for a 9th grader. Combine that with a really solid frame, a well-developed skillset, and the type of focus and determination we love to see in a young prospect and the Hayfield guard is definitely a prospect of note. It doesn’t hurt that she plays in a very strong high school program. Betsy has made a good case for herself that she, too, belongs in the Freshmen 50. I suspect the odds of that happening are pretty solid.
