June has already come and gone where we got a first look into some changes in rosters with high schools across the state. The following players had a change in class adding an extra year to their high school careers. Let’s take a look at who is re-classifying this year.
Devin Long Devin Long 5’8″ | CG United Faith | 2025 State NC shows up as a leader no matter what team she is playing on. The now 2025 guard will be suiting up for United Faith this upcoming season, and she is certainly going to be the player that the offense runs through for the year. She controls the ball and the tempo. She can knock down shots all around the perimeter, and she knows how to make the smart pass into her teammates underneath the basket. She is sure to get steals to take the other direction for her own points, too.
Icyss Storm Icyss Storm 6’1″ | SF Grace Christian | 2025 State NC will be staying with the back to back state champions of Grace Christian but has also re-classified to be a 2025. She has certainly grown her game throughout her high school career already. She is known to handle her business in the paint being able to score with her quick moves on the block and rebound on both ends of the court. Her game around the perimeter has really been showing up for her lately knocking down shots from deep and being able to defend the basket against guards who try to blow by her.
Highlights
Cannon is going to be Maya McCorkle Maya McCorkle 5’9″ | CG Cannon | 2025 State NC ‘s team this year, and she has already proven that she is ready for the challenge. She has great composure on the court leading her teammates and directing them to the open spots, so she can make the perfect pass to get them some points. She’s been scoring herself around the perimeter no matter if she shoots off the dribble or pass. Her IQ on the court knowing exactly how to make a play and what moves to show off are what sets her apart.
Not only did Isa Roman Isa Roman 5’8″ | CG Grace Christian Sanford | 2025 State NC find a new graduating class, she also found a new home at Grace Christian. The sharp shooter is certainly going to be an asset for the state champions bringing three level scoring to the dominant group. She finds the openings so well knowing how to shift defenses and make effective cuts to get the open look. On defense, she is as tough as they come being able to strip the ball from her opponents and block their path to the basket.
The last re-classification, Ale’na Lewis Ale’na Lewis 5’10” | SG High Point Christian | 2026 State NC , also found a new home in High Point Christian. The versatile athlete can fill in any role that her team needs when she’s on the court. She can attack the basket scoring herself, or she can create plays for her teammates drawing defenders and making the dish. Her ability to run the floor well is fun to watch because she can block shots on a fast break on one end then make the catch and bucket perfectly in stride on the other. She is definitely a good hype woman to have on your team, too.
