Shaymiah Bailey
Shaymiah Bailey
Shaymiah is coming off a strong sophomore season averaging 18 points and 16 rebounds off 54% shooting from the floor. She has good hands, ability to put the ball on the floor, and soft on her feet allowing her to be active on the boards. She plays good help defense making sure to beat players to their spots and cutting off the baseline on drivers. She showed a nice touch from the high post and behind the arc, showing that she can help space the floor and bring bigs out of the paint. She sets good screens out of the pick and roll, showing good decision making skills and ability to make the right reads when she has the ball rolling or popping. She has been consistent with being a reliable scorer and rebounder, look for her junior year to be no different.
Amya is a relentless when going for loose balls and rebounds. Second chance efforts is something she brings a team day in and day out with her effort and timing. Solid finisher in the post, she doesn’t need a lot of touches or plays called for her to contribute. She sticks to her strengths and doesn’t do many uncharacteristic things with the ball in her hands, taking care of the ball most possessions. Look for her to put up similar numbers like 17 points and 14 rebounds per game next year as she did this previous season with her activity and awareness.
Highlights
Shalyn is a long athletic forward , who moves well on her feet, has good reaction time when it comes to defending the rim, and uses her wing span to alter shots. She scored over 500 points last year for North Stanly with her nice touch and ability to take contact and get to the line. She plays with physicality but has some finesse in her game. She is a dangerous outlet in transition, one she gets going its hard to stop her from getting good angles at the rim.
Jasmine is a versatile wing/forward who makes plays and contributes from all areas of the floor. She guards 1-5 and cause havoc on smaller guards. She crashes the boards, can start the break with her ability to handle the ball, change direction, and use her vision. She can create for herself and get to the rim, or draw the help/double team while making the right read. She displayed good mechanics from deep, causing the defense to have to respect her from outside.
Kamea is mobile wing/forward who plays both sides of the floor with effort and IQ. She does a great job moving without the ball finding easy opportunities and crashing boards. She can handle the ball to get to her pull up or rim and has a few moves to finish at the basket. She displays good footwork on the perimeter and paint, with soft hands, and athleticism. A real versatile threat that will give defenses fits.
