There has always been a lot of buzz surrounding the Essence program, and Coach Kim has been blessed to be able to keep reloading as she consistently sends players to the next level. She has some in the high school division that will be moving on to the next level, but she has a younger group that is destined for greatness. London Thomas is the leader of this squad, and she has an exceptionally high ceiling. Her game is mature beyond her years, and she is already developing a good feel for balancing scoring and facilitating. She has some inconsistencies, which is expected with her youth, but she makes plays throughout the game that show her ability and potential, making it hard to ignore her and what she could become over the next few years. I am sure she will have a lot of ink on her over the coming years, including a lot from me.
Abigail Seitz (5’9/CG/’25/Phoenix ’25)

Abigail was absolutely sensational in the games I watched her play. She is a prolific scorer from beyond the arc and a dynamic playmaker off the bounce. She is a primary creator that breaks down defenders with advanced moves and has a great understanding of what to do with the rock when attacking. She has excellent vision and can deliver all the necessary passes a PG needs, including wraparound passes to cutters and kick outs to shooters off the bounce or in mid-air. She understands where she is looking to go on the floor and how to get there, and she does not waste movement. She understands how to do more with less and switches between playing on-ball and off-the-ball, with her production never taking a dip. I was quite surprised to hear that she currently holds no offers, but I truly believe she helped herself with her play this weekend.
Here is some footage on Abigail:

Skylar has become known as a player that can get it done from behind the arc. Unfortunately, she is very streaky, and when she is on, she can really fill it up, but when she is off, she is cold as ice. I saw the same thing throughout this tourney, and as she gets ready to enter her senior season, she will have to find a level of consistency with being able to score the rock. Her body continues to develop, which helps with not being pushed around as she has been at times when I have seen her. She showed that she has been working on putting the rock on the floor and scoring off the bounce when she is run off the line.
Madison McDaniel (5’8/PG/’24/Team Takeover)

All the South Carolina committee did throughout the weekend was show what she will be bringing to Columbia as well as lead her team to the Platinum Championship. She has a brilliant floor game and is a heady playmaker who had her bag wide open the entire weekend. She is excellent at keeping her options open off the bounce, which allows her to get out of tight situations and still create scoring opportunities for her squad. It takes a village to slow her down, and even then, it takes having the right people on the court to get the job done. Only a handful of players could do what Madison did with the rock in her hands and lead a team the way she did, which is why she will be playing with the great Coach Staley.
Arek Angui (6’9/C/’24/Doom Squad)

As Arek walked around the convention center, just about everyone stopped and took notice. Then when she laced them up, the crowds gathered to see her performance. Truthfully, her length was just too much for her opponents the majority of the time. As you would think, with a player standing 6’9, she was a rim protector that blocked and challenged shots. She was dominant on the glass and rarely had to leave her feet to secure the boards. She still has a lot of development ahead of her on the offensive end of the court, but she will find herself at the next level and get the work needed to improve her game to produce at that level.
Crystal Aragon (5’3/PG/’25/Competitive Edge)

Crystal is a PG who can be counted on to run an offense and find an open teammate. She has excellent court vision and court awareness, excels in the pick and roll, has all the tools to set up her teammates and make on-time and on-target passes, and is an unselfish player who lets the game come to her. She is a skilled guard who can score and orchestrate while being a high-end decision-maker in tight quarters or in the open floor. She brings a lot to the game as she is quick and crafty and is a lead guard that is very reliable with the rock in her hands.
