Here are a few guards that were some of the best of the showcase. However, not all of the 2027 players will be able to showcase at the varsity level. Some are playing for loaded teams in 2024. They will no doubt get their turn as next up soon. Some will ill be immediate impact players.
Eliana Gibson
Eliana Gibson
A crafty guard, Eliana was one of the more skilled players in the tournament. She had some beautiful moves, including a couple of up-and-under fakes she used to get free, finishing with either hand. Her floor game is solid, and she has a high basketball IQ and played the point guard position well. She is also a capable three-point shooter who should become a very good one. Not many freshmen are elite Shooters from three but they can show you a glimpse of the future. Camas is loaded with veteran talent and has one of the best teams in recent memory. That team includes some of the best guards in the state. She will likely have to wait another year to get those varsity minutes. She will be ready to roll when she does She and Lauren Hood, who is featured in another article.
Lexi Zardis
Lexi Zardis
Lexi was another player who displayed the ability to get to the basket. She had some great cross-over dribbles and finished with the off hand. She had at least, most likely more than 14 points in one game I saw her play. Aside from maybe a three, most were tough drives. She is not afraid of contact and can get to the free-throw line. She should have a chance to play some big varsity minutes in 2024, although Meadowdale has one of the top guards in the state in Gia Powell Gia Powell 5’8″ | CG Meadowdale | 2024 State WA . At the very least, she can learn from the best.
Mariah Roy
Mariah Roy
Let’s be honest, the three-time defending champion Garfield will have upperclassmen on the floor at most times. I did not see Mariah yet but I had eyes on her. “Quick. Defensive machine. Quick ups”. She and Lisa Stewart Lisa Stewart 5’9″ | PF Garfield | 2027 WA , featured in another article will be waiting in the wings to be next up while learning from one of the best in Katie Fiso Katie Fiso 5’10” | PG Garfield | 2024 State WA .
Lexi Robbins
Lexi Robbins
Lexi is a nice-looking point guard prospect and unlike some of these others, she may have a bigger role on varsity at a smaller school in Squalicum. Although the Storm return guards Mari Binning Mari Binning 5’8″ | CG Squalicum | 2024 State WA and Makayla Heaton Makayla Heaton 5’8″ | CG Squalicum | 2024 State WA . Lexi also displayed a nice-looking jump shot and hit some threes. The skills and knowledge of the game are already there. Time will tell how much of a role she will have in 2024.
Savannah Rendall
Savannah Rendall
I am guessing Savannah is the sister of Madi Rendall, the star shooting guard who graduated last year. Savannah showed willingness to drive the ball in games I watched, scoring on some tough drives. The cupboard is hardly bare at Kamiakin. Nicole Wertenberger Nicole Wertenberger 5’9″ | SG Kamiakin | 2024 State WA , Camia Howard Camia Howard 5’11” | PF Kamiakin | 2024 State WA , Emaunii Smith Emaunii Smith 6’1″ | SF Kamiakin | 2026 State WA , and Aubrey Herrin Aubrey Herrin 6’1″ | SF Kamiakin | 2025 State WA all return. Perhaps another Rendall could take the floor with them in 2024.
