No. 21: Jessica Devine Jessica Devine 5'6" | PG Middlesex | 2025 State NJ – PG, Middlesex
We begin this article talking about an incredibly impressive guard in Devine, arguably the best player in the Greater Middlesex Conference and the backbone, the heartbeat of Middlesex’s team for the past two seasons, especially last season. The stats speak for themselves: 18.1 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 5.8 APG, 5.9 SPG and 43 made three-pointers in 29 games. Devine was among the leaders in the state in assists, and her defense has been nothing short of spectacular.
No. 22: Kyley Gary-Grayson Kyley Gary-Grayson 5'7" | PG West Orange | 2025 State NJ – PG, West Orange
Gary-Grayson shot up our rankings over the past year, putting together fantastic numbers for West Orange, and her scoring ability speaks for itself. One of the top pure scorers in the Super Essex Conference, Gary-Grayson averaged over 15 PPG, doing so in a variety of different ways on the floor. We would be remiss to exclude her defensive successes, as well as a strong presence on New Heights NYC’s 16U team. Playing for a high-caliber AAU program has given her the exposure necessary to shine for the Mountaineers.
No. 23: Emma Thornton Emma Thornton 5'11" | C Barnegat | 2025 State NJ – C, Barnegat
We discussed Thornton in our best centers story, coming in as the No. 1 ranked center in the 2025 class. The center position itself is very much a dying breed as forwards have become more agile, more mobile, able to play like a guard, spread the floor, etc., and Thornton showed that more as a sophomore while playing that traditional center role. We think that she’s going to evolve out of what people will know as a center into a stretch forward role. The more she rounds her game, the more likely we see her branch out.
No. 24: Jasmin McKay Jasmin McKay 5'5" | CG Roselle Catholic | 2025 State NJ – CG, Roselle Catholic
Consistency is key, and for McKay, consistency has been her bread and butter toward a successful high school career so far. She certainly picked things up more in the back half of the season, ending the year with four-straight 20-point performances, and her passing has come a long way as well. As she continues to spread the floor for her teammates, she’s opening up the floor more for herself, which we saw in the three-point department as she tripled her production from her freshman year.
No. 25: Reese Downey Reese Downey 5'7" | PG Absegami | 2025 State NJ – PG, Absegami
Downey continues to shine with her ball-handling skills on the floor, her leadership ability as a guard, and her three-point shooting. Absegami hit a road block as a team last season, hovering around .500 the entire year, but Downey continued to shine, averaging north of 16 PPG with nearly five rebounds and assists per game. The defense is there, the shooting is there, the crafty play has continued and even been elevated in certain respects. We cannot wait to see what her junior year brings.
