It’s an exciting time for everyone, especially me, knowing that I’ll be back in the gym again soon and won’t have to be relying on things like video to tell me how everyone is doing these days. Until we’re all back in the gym again, here’s another addition of Social Media Evals!
Kendi Spencer
Kendi Spencer
It is really exciting to consider that Kendi is only an eighth grader this season. There is so much to like on her tape. She already has tremendous size for a guard. She shows good handles and the uncanny ability to finish around the rim. She has a plethora of moves to get it done down low with all kinds of reverse layups and floaters. She plays beyond her years, as far as that part of the game is concerned. There was a little video of her showing quick hands on defense and forcing some turnovers, which was great to see. I really look forward to not only catching some games in person, but seeing Spencer progress into high school and along her grassroots ball journey. With some more development, she could undoubtedly be one of the top players in the state by the time all is said and done.
Yesterday I did a piece on seniors that coaches need to wake up on and Lainey should have probably been on that list. You watch her video and she jumps off the screen as a player who is outworking every single other player out there. Some kids just want it. She is clearly one of them. She’s a 5’10” player who guards every position, crashes the boards on rebounds, and isn’t afraid to go to ground to battle for any loose ball. Oh yeah, did I mention that she can shoot the three? There’s that as well. Get out to Heritage Hall and catch a game this season. You’ve got one more go-round to offer her a chance to play at your school. You won’t regret it.
Highlights
Speaking of 2024’s that you should be keeping an eye on, let me introduce you to Kaci, if you haven’t already met her. Every team needs a “glue” player who is safe with the handles, smart with their decisions, and a great all-around teammate. I think that description fits Kaci perfectly. She can get you a timely three when called upon, but more than that, she is a coach on the floor who is going to keep things under control when the going gets tough. She has a nose for the ball and racks up the steals. Kaci may be undersized for some levels, but at the right school, in the right system, she is going to make a coach very happy that they took a chance on her.

It’s almost hard to catch Jaycee on tape. She is lightning fast and whoever it is filming her probably has a hard time keeping up. Her handles are ridiculous and she gets up and down the floor in a flash, making lightning fast decisions. She can score in bunches, but is also a tremendous distributor for her team. A high-IQ player who also has a 4.0 GPA, I feel like Meissinger should be on a lot of coaches radars heading into this junior season. She’s on a great club team, a great high school team, and assuming she’s only going to get better from how good she already is, this kid is a very big time prospect!
Speaking of basketball players who are absolute athletic beasts, Adison was a competitor at state in the high jump. Where she uses that bounce and quickness best is on the defensive end where she makes life absolutely miserable on the opposing ballhandler. I saw her on video force turnover after turnover with her long arms, hops, and general basketball IQ that told her where the play was headed. She can score from all levels and looks to have put up some pretty big point totals at times. The release on her three is lightning quick, yet she does everything with such a smoothness out there. She really is a fun player to watch. I can’t wait to see a Choctaw game this year. I’m guessing I’ll see more than one college coach there to watch Adison!
