Jayla Forbes Jayla Forbes 6'7" | C Thompson | 2027 AL (6’7/C)
When opponents look at Jayla, immediately, her size intimidates them. Her length helps her with her interior presence and production. The things you expect, such as shot-blocking ability, dominating on the glass, and scoring in the paint, are all there for Jayla. She is a game-changing presence, as you don’t come around many who stand 6’7 here in the state.
Kaylee Fenderson (5’6/PG)
Kaylee is a playmaker who can get it done at all three levels. She is a PG who balances facilitating and scoring. She has a great understanding and feel for the game, and her basketball IQ is one of the highest on the team. She will be looked upon to run the show, and Coach Coney has full confidence that the team will be in good hands.
Sydney Coney (5’11/G|F)
Sydney has good positional size and is a versatile wing that brings toughness to both ends of the floor. She plays with a high motor and makes winning plays that are not always seen in the stat sheet. She is a match-up nightmare as she is a tough cover with the rock in her hands, and she can defend multiple positions.
When asked about two players who will be key pieces of the puzzle for the team this season that were not listed in the top three above, Coach Bogan mentioned Karlyn Oden Karlyn Oden 5'4" | CG Thompson | 2024 State AL , who will provide leadership and scoring as she has really improved her shot-making skills this off-season. The second player, Maliyah Green, is one of the team’s toughest and most aggressive players. She is a downhill attacking guard who is tough to stop when she gets going. She puts a lot of pressure on the defense, as it is difficult to defend her in one-on-one situations.
Look for the Lady Warriors to be extremely disruptive on defense. They will look to control the pace of the game and force opponents to play at their tempo. Coach Bogan and his squad put a lot of focus on dominating both the offensive and defensive boards.
When asked what it would take for the team to make a deep playoff run, make it to the Final Four, or even win the State Championship, Coach Bogan emphatically said TRUST. The players must trust the coaching staff and must trust one another.
