- There is some catching up to do. At each update I try to add 25 players per class. At this point, I would have 100 players listed already going into the school year so that’s just what I did. There are 125 players listed that either put up big numbers in high school last season or showed some impressive gameplay over this past AAU campaign.
- I have only ranked the Top 10 players until our next update in December. I am confident that these 10 players are all individuals who could play basketball at the next level, no questions asked. The biggest determining factor being how they expand their games and physically grow over the next few high school seasons.
- In the Top 10 that I have listed for this class, there were a handful of situations where a player could have been a spot above or a spot below of where they were placed. I could truly justify either position to you in the end.
(In General)
Some small things on how understand the rankings:
- The position that the player is labeled at currently is where they are seen as a college prospect, at THIS moment in time. That is subject to change as time goes on and players evolve.
- Each player will have a position rank associated with their name in this first update, please understand two things about that ranking. 1 – Only the Top 10 players positional ranking is accurate. The others on the WL are just how players were mentioned in the PGH system in the past. 2 – Those are subject to change over-time as a player COULD end up changing their position for any given reason as they get older. (Growth spurt, Skill-set evolves, Ect.)
Some small things to please remember from an outside perspective:
- Just because a players name is not added on this list, does not mean they aren’t a good player. It simply means I haven’t seen them compete YET or consider them as a CURRENT player who will see significant varsity minutes as a sophomore this winter at their high school.
- With younger classes, there can be some major movements as to where a player is from update to update. It’s crucial to understand that when a player moves down in the rankings, it’s usually not because they played bad or haven’t been doing well. It’s because more players are being added to the rankings and those players skill-set maybe evolving to a higher level as they get older.
- A Players Ranking is an opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. My advice is that you can use it to motivate you or you should move on. There is no reason to feel hurt or slighted as it is never personal. It’s just a different point of view. Remember, opinions change.
In the article below I will be unveiling our 2025 – #6-10 Players list. This #6-10 list was determined by a few factors such as a players “feel” for the game, their body of work last high school/AAU season, their natural athleticism & skill-set, their motor, and much more. Every player that I will list here is a college level competitor, who could one day play for a successful D1 program once their high school careers come to an end.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Sarah Gatwech Sarah Gatwech 6’0″ | CG Lincoln North Star | 2025 State NE is an intersting prospect coming in at #6 in this 2025 Player Rankings Update. Gatwech stands at around 6’0 FT with long arms and a high motor. She displays glimpses of high level skills with the ball in her hands each game she competes in it seems like. Gatwech is the type of player, that if she can become more efficient with her movements on the floor, she will break our Top 5 before you know it. Her mixture of size, athleticism, and skill is eye-opening to any scout watching her out there, she just needs to stay dedicated and good things will happen.
A competitor with a high upside when it comes to their future pertaining to the game of basketball is Addison Sullivan Addison Sullivan 6’1″ | CG Blair | 2025 State NE . Sullivan stands at 6’1 but moves really well for her height. She is a someone that is consistently crashing the boards at a high rate, while being efficient with her back to the basket. Over these past few months, Sullivan has adapted her game to stretch the floor and it’s noticeable. Someone with this height and skill set, learning to knock down three’s is dangerous for any team who may come across her this winter. How dangerous? We will just have to wait and see but from the looks of it, Russell is someone we will be speaking about more and more as the high school season progresses because of her production.
Highlights
Rylee McLucas Rylee McLucas 6’0″ | SF Millard North | 2025 State NE is a sneaky athletic small forward, who is slowly adapting to also be able to play the combo guard position as well. McLucas’s coordination and balance down the floor screams college athlete at the moment but she is going to have to show her dominance this upcoming winter at Millard North and prove some things to me if she wants to stay in this highly ranked position. She is a player that has always made her presence felt when she is on the floor competing. She is disruptive on defense with active hands and that helps lead to her offense on the other side of the court. I’ve seen a lot of positives from her thus far and I expect that list to keep on growing over her first few months of the high school season this winter.
The advanced skill set that Ayla Roth Ayla Roth 5’10” | CG Milford | 2025 State NE displays with the ball in her hands, when she is on the offensive attack is impressive. She is a player that can score at all three levels, either off of the catch or dribble. She can defend alike size players with fast feet and knowledge of her opponents tendencies, and she is a teammate who is always willing to make the extra pass. Roth has a bright future on the court and I can’t wait to see how she does this winter for her Junior year of high school ball. She should dominate most matchups but I’m more curious how she fairs with another college level player defending her. From everything I’ve seen this past few months during AAU season, not many who have tried stopping her, succeeded, but we will have to see if the high school floor has a different outcome.
Highlights
Avril Smith Avril Smith 6’0″ | PF Millard North | 2025 State NE is someone who was just on the cut off of making this Top 10 and if she wants to keep this position, she is going to have to work hard and show me some more positives this high school season. Smith is an interesting prospect because she has height, she puts up big numbers, she is a defensive maniac, and she heads her teams full-court press…at 6’2. When you account for all these things, you can tell why Smith made the #10 spot for this Update. There is not many times that you see a player in the high school girls game that is over 6’2 and full court pressing consistently. Smith is someone that I’m going to keep a close on this high school season. If she continues to succeed and glue her game together a little bit more over this next year, she is sure to bring in a few more offers before things are said and done with her high school career.
