I just continue to shake my head in disbelief as the Knoxville Catholic squad looks tough on paper. Don’t get me wrong, you have to play the game, but good gracious, Coach Mains and staff have some talent on their hands.
Stacked with depth at multiple positions, the Knoxville Catholic Lady Irish are creating a dynasty. They brought home the hardware last year, finishing the year on top. Previous years, they had been to the final four, but last year they hoisted the gold ball above their heads. With the sights and thrills in their rearview, these girls aren’t taking the moment for granted. They are still hungry and ready to go out and do it again.
The team, like I said, is talented. They can beat you in so many ways. I was watching Aja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces the other night and she said something like “D is fun but the O is where you want to Go.” (Don’t quote me on this.) My point is that these Lady Irish are going to D you up, but that offensive game is lethal. They have inside presence, outside shooters, ball handlers, lockdown defenders, you get the picture. Just put it this way, this is going to be a tough ball club to deal with on a nightly basis. They are talented, fun to watch, and play the game with passion.
Repeat? We’ll see. These girls from Knoxville Catholic are some fierce competitors who are hungry for more. Look for them to come out the gates ready to rock n’roll.
Here are some prospects from the Lady Irish of Knoxville Catholic.
Sydney Mains Sydney Mains 5'11" | SF Knoxville Catholic | 2024 State TN (5’11/Sr./G)– Florida Atlantic commit, just a true ball player. A mult-level scoring threat, she’s phenomenal at her craft. Can score it from the arc, put it on the floor, finish at the cup, there is a reason why she is one of the best in the state. Handled some adversity with her injury, but came back even better. She’s a tough kid who shines bright when the ball tips off. Always ready to lace up her kicks and hoop. Look for her to continue where she left off last year and add more accolades to her trophy case.
Amaya Redd Amaya Redd 5'10" | SF Knox. Catholic | 2025 State TN (5’11/ Jr./ F)– Shifty forward that can do all things. Has great court vision, she can knife through defenses. Pushes the ball in transition, she can finish at the rim, hit open teammates, or pull up for the jumper. Contributes on the boards. Blocks shots, takes charges. Plays the game with infectious energy. Great kid who has a motor on her.
Andrea Flores Andrea Flores 5'10" | SG Daniel Boone | 2026 State TN (5’10/So./G.)– Young impactful player who is phenomenal both on and off the court. Transferred in, she’s looking to carve out her role within this Lady Irish attack. Don’t worry, she’s going to do that just fine. A multi-level scoring threat, she’s a bucket with the ball in her hands. She can beat you with her quick first step, or knock it down from the catch and shoot position. She defends! Defense is a part of her game as well. A stellar all around kid who has yet to reach her full potential. An exciting kid who will be on the D1 level some day.
Logan Connaster (5’8/So./SG)– Shifty lefty with a nice pull-up game. Logan plays the game hard and competes every possession. Getting steals, tips, she contributes on the defensive end. Her offensive game is nice. She can slice through defenses and finish at the rim. Has a nice step-back game, or drains the 3 ball. An exciting prospect with a bright future.

(5’11/Sr./F)– Has a great inside presence on both ends of the floor. Defensively, she owns the boards, making it difficult for teams to get second chance opportunities. On the offensive end, she has a nice mid-range game, but can beat you in the painted area. A nice arsenal of back to the basket moves. She’s great on the O boards as well. Has great size and length.
