I’m sure more kids will become significant figures within their programs, but these are my initial players to watch this upcoming high school season.
Avalyn Albrecht Avalyn Albrecht 6'1" | PF Poynette | 2027 State WI
The Poynette wing is one of the most versatile kids in her class. Albrecht is a 6-2 athlete who can do almost anything you’d want a player to do. This past summer, she showed she runs the floor as well as anyone, can finish through traffic, score off the dribble, and finish through contact. She has a chance to be a productive player in the Capitol-North and make a significant impact this season.
Ava Van Vonderen Ava Van Vonderen 6'0" | SG Kimberly | 2027 State WI
Overall, Van Vonderan is one of the most intriguing kids entering the high school scene. She’s at a school that could be a surprise State-Title contender this season in Kimberly. Along with Katelyn McGinnis Katelyn McGinnis 5'10" | CG Kimberly | 2025 State WI and another newcomer we’ll get to in a second, the Papermakers have one of the most talented groups in the state. Van Vonderan can do a little of everything. I’ve seen her score with her back to the basket, behind the three-point line, and been a dangerous threat in transition. Behind the influx of talent, including Van Vonderen, don’t overlook the Papermakers.
Haylie Dulas Haylie Dulas 5'11" | SF Kimberly | 2027 State WI
Van Vonderen’s fellow newcomer at Kimberly, Haylie Dulas Haylie Dulas 5'11" | SF Kimberly | 2027 State WI , is another kid who’s made a name for themselves this past summer. Dulas was part of the 15U Wisconsin Flight team that made a run at Nike Nationals to the Elite Eight and nearly earned a trip to a Final Four. The Papermaker wing is a versatile offensive threat who scores at the rim and behind the three-point line. I’m eager to see what Dulas and Van Vonderan can help Kimberly achieve this season.
Tessa Bryan Tessa Bryan 5'8" | PG Waunakee | 2027 State WI
I’ve talked about Bryan at length over the past few months. I love how much pressure she puts on set defenses and recovering defenses. The Waunakee guard is an elite athlete who loves to find excuses to get out and run. She’s also one of the more creative scorers in her class. Bryan’s a tough shot-maker and will create problems for defensive units who focus on what she’s doing. Even if she isn’t scoring, defenses must pay attention to what she’s doing, or she’ll break defenses off the dribble.
