Gillette led her team to two wins in week 1, including a one-point thriller over Grand Rapids Christian! She executed a beautiful step-back three-pointer from the top of the key. She does a great job handling the ball, and had a nice behind-the-back move as she was attacking the paint. She beat her player base-line on a play and finished with a forward spin shot at the rim. I think Hannah will have an amazing junior season if this week was any indicator of what’s to come!

When an elite team is down the majority of its starting line-up and they can still pull off two wins, you know you have something special on the court. Especially when one of those wins was against a very talented Muskegon team. The reason for this success is Wypych, who got all her teammates involved in playing great team basketball. She excelled at driving to the basket and passing to open teammates when the defense collapsed. I lost track of how many passes she had in transition to teammates running the floor, but it was many. In my opinion, Rockford will have another successful post-season run under the leadership of Wypych.
I consider myself fortunate as I had the opportunity to witness Sain’s performance twice within the same week. She dominated at the Top 250 Expo last Saturday and continued her strong play at the Fall League. Mariah is a next level playmaker and I expect big things from her this winter.
Bruwer isn’t the tallest player on the floor, but she did a great job securing some big defensive rebounds to help her team get a win at the MBA Fall League. She is another player that seems to get better every time I watch her play. I love the way she stays composed on the offensive end of the floor. She has great range that extends well beyond the college 3-point line. I see a big senior year coming for Emma!

DeSmit was able to help her team secure two wins in week one of the fall league. I loved the way she pushed the pace while being under control from her Point Guard position. Her exceptional court vision enabled her to make precise passes, resulting in easy transition baskets for her team. She knocked down numerous shots from behind the arc. She demonstrated skillful maneuvers with the ball, including an up-and-under finish and a step-through. I think Josie with have a big-time junior season for Hudsonville this winter!
