Of the many highlighted in our rankings, which should be every one, the Shore Conference has quite the large contingency of representation. So, what better way to talk about that than to discuss the best in the Class of 2025 from the Shore.
No. 1: Daniella Matus Daniella Matus 5'10" | CG St. John Vianney | 2025 State NJ – CG, St. John Vianney (No. 3 overall)
At the top of this list is Matus, now the pride of St. John Vianney, the new superstar to join the ranks of one of the best high school girls basketball programs in the country in recent years. Matus has certainly held her own and then some, dominating amongst the best players in the state and best in the country on the AAU circuit. Her awareness of the game, her command at the top of the key, her calmness through stressful periods, those are what make her a superstar player with immense intangibles.
No. 2: Tessa Carman Tessa Carman 5'11" | PF Red Bank Catholic | 2025 State NJ – PF, Red Bank Catholic (No. 10 overall)
The first of two Red Bank Catholic players on this list, Carman is part of the new wave of players that aren’t just forwards, but forwards who can play like guards. The stretch forward era is here, and who better than Carman to be one of the best in the state to do it, excelling well defensively while being a tangible threat offensively. She’s the type of two-way player, a multi-talented, multi-dimensional star, that can take over a game in an instant, possessing that kind of big-game awarness.
No. 3: Christina Liggio Christina Liggio 5'8" | PG Red Bank Catholic | 2025 State NJ – PG, Red Bank Catholic (No. 20 overall)
From Carman, we head to her junior teammate in Liggio, one of a few players who ran the show for the Caseys last season and someone we expect to take over that role in a more permanent fashion this coming season. Liggio is a big-time prospect no doubt, a balanced offensive guard who can score from just about anywhere on the floor she’s asked to. She’s done a stellar job so far of controlling the game from the top of the key, and she really possesses the kind of poise needed to be a college-level point guard.
No. 4: Emma Thornton Emma Thornton 5'11" | C Barnegat | 2025 State NJ – C, Barnegat (No. 23 overall)
Everything that we’ve said about Thornton before, we will continue to back up because she’s an incredibly talented forward in a conference that has so many to choose from. Thornton has gone under-the-radar in many respects because of the sheer amount of talent around her, but make no mistakes about a player who has averaged a double-double in back-to-back seasons to begin her high school career; she makes plays down low on both sides of the ball and is a matchup nightmare for any team to face.
No. 5: Reese Fiore Reese Fiore 5'6" | PG Shore | 2025 State NJ – PG, Shore Regional (No. 38 overall)
The last player we will be discussing in this article is none other than the star point guard out of Shore Regional, Reese Fiore Reese Fiore 5'6" | PG Shore | 2025 State NJ . She stepped up into a massive role last season, going from a complimentary player in the starting lineup to the No. 2 piece behind Rylee Drahos for the Blue Devils. From No. 2 to No. 1, Fiore now is expected to be the piece for Shore, the superstar at the top of the key who can get the job done. On numerous occasions last season, she showed that, and we’re expecting nothing but big things this season.
