First, I’ll list an all-hustle five, followed by an all-event 2nd team today. I’ll release the all-event first team and others I liked watching play on Monday. Nobody is on multiple teams.
Kylee Sias-Chaney Kylee Sias-Chaney 5'3" | PG Wisconsin Lutheran | 2027 WI
The future Wisconsin Lutheran guard was one of the best at beating her defender off the dribble and opening up passing lanes for her teammates. She dove on the floor after loose balls when you don’t have to do those extra things. I loved her overall effort and willingness to get her teammates involved.
Rose Mussoline Rose Mussoline 5'5" | CG Whitefish Bay | 2027 WI
I’ve talked about a handful of future Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes recently. I’m about to do it again. Mussoline impressed me with the comfort she played with in chaotic situations and an unfamiliar environment. I also thought she was as engaged as anyone defending away from the ball, and she got her hands in the passing lanes on a few occasions. She’ll be a solid two-way guard who’ll play closing minutes once acclimated into the Blue Dukes system.
Kendall Schmitz Kendall Schmitz 5'4" | PG Manitowoc Lincoln | 2027 WI
I loved the energy that Schmitz brought to every possession. She did her best to get downhill to find open teammates when the help came, did a solid job staying engaged on the defensive end of the floor, and overall did all the small things that help a team be successful. Schmitz moved the ball, moved away from the ball, kept her head up when dribbling, and was a good teammate. It felt like she was everywhere when she was on the floor.
Rhianna Barker
I loved the intensity that Barker played with every second she was on the floor. She played without fear and took away breathing space from her assignment defensively. Her effort will help her get onto the floor early at Bradford because kids who defend like Barker don’t usually find themselves out of the rotation too long, if at all.
Beth Langebartles
Whenever you see a kid willing to battle physically in the post, you notice it. However, when that kid is more of a four/three or wing, it stands out more. I thought Langebartles was good at figuring out what her team needed most from her, and in that situation, it was to play as a post and fight for rebounds, which she did well. She never shied away from any physicality and honestly seemed to be the one initiating, which helped her, and I thought she made a good account for herself without needing to score, which most kids don’t understand how to do at that age.
