The players highlighted in this article were all Ranked prior to this Update but they all share the common factor that their stock has risen over the past few months and they all have promising futures on the basketball court looking forward.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Someone that everyone is going to hear the name of pretty constantly this season and over the next few years throughout the state of Iowa is Grace Knutson Grace Knutson 5’10” | SG Cedar Falls | 2024 State IA . Knutson is a Drake women’s basketball commit and she is the real deal. Someone that demonstrates picture perfect shooting form, is going to be the main reason that her North Polk High School team makes it to the State Playoffs this winter, if they can pull off such a feat. Knutson sometimes was overshadowed on her All Iowa Attack EYBL 17U team this past spring/summer but don’t get it twisted. She is a high level, high octane type player that can compete with some of the best competition in the country. In this Rankings Update, Knutson moves to the #6 spot on our list. Something she should be proud of but not satisfied with moving forward.
Nodaway Valley High School is going to have a shot at the 2A State Title this season if they play their cards right and a big reason for that being possible is because of Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5’8″ | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA . Davis is a guard that is swift with the ball but disciplined. She displays on a consistent basis that she is superior to most with her mixture of guard-like skill-set and fundamental play out on the court. Davis moves up to the #11 spot in this Rankings Update with a good chance to break the Top 10 this winter. If she comes out firing on all cylinders and shows me that she can make everyone else around her better, she will be in a favorable spot come December’s Update.
Highlights
Katelyn Eggena Katelyn Eggena 6’1″ | PF Waverly-Shell Rock | 2024 State IA is someone that I was not to familiar with prior to this Update but you can bet that moving forward, she is a player I will be seeing compete live this winter. Eggena, a Western Illinois Women’s basketball commit, is a handful to deal with down-low near the hoop. She is the type of player that competes with size, speed, and physicality each possession. If you are on the floor, near the hoop and Eggena is in the game, you are going to notice she is there real quick. Her productivity on both sides of the ball says everything you need to know about her game and I can’t wait to see how she does at the Collegiate level after this season at Waverly-Shell Rock High School.
An individual that has been floating in the #5-10 area of this 2024 Class the past few seasons is Aaliyah Riley Aaliyah Riley 5’7″ | PG Johnston | 2024 State IA of Johnston High School. Riley is a compete guard in all facets of the game. She is a player that can get you a bucket at all three levels or she can create for others at a high rate. In last years 5A State Title game, Riley scored around 50% of her teams total points. She showed on the biggest stage we have at the High School level that she was more than ready for the bright lights. To start this 23-24′ season, Riley sits at #7. She will look to help lead her Johnston Dragon team back to the State Title game, this time walking away as Champions. Something that won’t be easy, but is more then doable.
Although Sadie Maas Sadie Maas 6’0″ | C Waukee NW | 2024 State IA may only have moved up 1 spot in this Player Rankings Update, she is more than primed for a big Senior season ahead at Waukee Northwest High School. Maas, a NW Missouri State Bearcats commit, has length and knowledge on both sides of the floor. She is very good with her active hands on defense, as she comes away with a lot of blocks/tips/deflections because of it. Offensively, when she catches with her back to the basket and she has time, she is very good dominating her competition. She has a plethora of skill moves that she can pull out at any given moment and that’s prevalent from watching her for just 5 minutes. Waukee NW could put together a nice run once the Playoffs start this winter if they prepare accordingly. Maas will be ready to go, if everyone else can step up around her, it’s going to be a good season to be a Wolf.
