Vann closed out her decorated high school career with another Gold Ball. As a lead guard, she’s looked to be complete package as a scorer with a mix of “get by you” quickness, along with tremendous feel at changing pace on drives. When the title game was still in doubt late in the third, she had a great example of changing gears on a baseline drive that saw her beat two defenders for a big score. Her ability to manipulate the defense with ball fakes, stop on the dime for jumpers, all make her such a tough cover.
Leading Bethany to a second straight class 4A championship was a fitting finish for a big time player. Vann has the scoring capabilities to help her older sister, Skylar, next year at the University of Oklahoma.

Zya Vann didn’t have a great game against St. John’s in their first game of the MLK Classic, but you could tell how talented she is. She is a great shooter with great range and an elite scorer. Zya rebounds well for her size as well. She is an Oklahoma committ, and even if she does well at times for her standards, you can tell how talented she is.

Want an one word scouting report? “Wow.” From the opening tip, she was simply too fast and quick for the Wildcats’ defense. She lived at the rim because of that quickness, and would end up with 23 points and 9 rebounds on the night. Along with her dynamic driving, Vann hit on pull ups, had a big time athletic putback and had some great crosscourt passing. The variety in her skillset and athleticism will serve her well as she chases another Gold Ball and prepares for her college career at Oklahoma next year.

continues the legacy of the Vann family in Oklahoma basketball and that legacy includes being highly ranked. It also usually includes attending Oklahoma, which is exactly what Zya will be doing after her senior season at Bethany. She is a fluid, fast guard with natural ballhandling ability. She scores from all levels and absolutely fills up the stat sheet by crashing the boards and doing a great job of distributing the ball. Vann plays phenomenal on-ball defense and relishes the one-on-one opportunity. She is a fun player to watch and in Coach Baranczyk’s offense,

Zya is an explosive point guard that has the tools to be great! She effects the game in so many ways that make her a high-valued player. She attacks off the dribble explosively, and can create space for her shot. Defensively, she is just as good – using her lateral quickness to stay in front of the ball and apply pressure – elite defender. She handles pressure well off the dribble and doesn’t turn it over. She shoots the ball consistently from deep, will hit big time shots if needed, and knows how to get her teammates involved. An underrated part of her game is her ability to make her teammates better – she makes sure everybody eats!

Zya is an electric guard that has flown under the radar nationally in the class of 2024. She shows a lot of greatness on the court due to the work she puts in on both ends. She handles the ball with a lot of pace and creativity – is quick off the dribble, and knows how to create space for her shot. She is a threat from behind the 3-point line and will attack the open gaps with explosiveness and finish at the rim through traffic and contact. At the point guard position she distributes the ball well to her teammates and can easily take over the game and score in bunches. Defensively she shows great instincts with her quick hands and quick feet, making thing super difficult for the opposition. Arguably the best 2-way player in the state of Oklahoma. I like her game and she will make a huge impact in her junior year at Bethany High School.
