Thomas was very impressive when I saw her play at HYPE. She showed a lot of skill and upside and is a prospect to be very excited about. Thomas set the tone for her game on the defensive end of the floor. She was able to pick up at halfcourt and pressure the ball. Thomas had quick hands and excellent defensive vision. She created multiple turnovers and turned defense into offense.
Highlights
Morgan McPherson
Morgan McPherson
This was my first opportunity to evaluate McPherson’s game and I came away impressed. She’s a quick twitch athlete that can put defenders on her hip. McPherson showed that she’s a more than capable scorer from multiple levels. She got a bucket off a nice spin move down low and also hit a triple from the top. McPherson was able to split defenders on the dribble drive and play through contact with her strength.

Evans is a really nice player and prospect at River Rouge. Her work on the defensive end was stellar. She used her length to pick up deflections and steals in the passing lanes and to swallow her opponents if they picked up their dribble. Evans was able to defend the entire length of the floor. She was solid offensively as well. Evans proved to be a very creative scorer in traffic and was always a threat to grab an offensive rebound.
Gibson looks like she’s on pace to have a standout junior season. She’s had an excellent fall, including taking away a Top Performer designation at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250. Gibson was always a threat to play a fast paced game. She showed good downcourt vision hitting a nice pass to a breaking teammate for an easy bucket. Gibson showed some shake with her handles beating her defender off the bounce. She also flaunted some creativity on her finishes with a tough reverse layup.
Like in Part 2 of this series, the fifth player is a mystery player that I was unable to obtain a name for. If you see a Canton forward wearing the number 10, be sure to check out her game. She scored 13 points in Canton’s first game and proved to be a very highly influential post player that’s definitely worth a look from scouts and coaches.
