is a player I have liked over the past few years. She was outstanding last year, and she should have an even bigger year this year. Her back to the basket game and touch around the basket are tremendous, and she is an excellent mid-range shooter. Ella finally has her name in the rankings, so she is someone to look out for.

was the best player on a tremendous Woodgrove team last year. They should be outstanding again, and Angelina will play a big part in that. She is great defensively because of her length, and she scores in multiple ways. She’s a talented player and will build on a fantastic season from last year.

as an HM. She is one of the best public school players in the area, and I love her all-around game. She is a high-IQ player and collects double-doubles. She shoots the three well and always plays within herself. She understands what she does well and what the team needs. Sarah is a player every coach likes, and she should have a great year.
At my first guard position, I have Madison McKenzie Madison McKenzie 5’7″ | CG Gainesville | 2024 State VA . Gainesville was super talented last year, but they were also young. It looked like Madison McKenzie Madison McKenzie 5’7″ | CG Gainesville | 2024 State VA ‘s maturity and ability were huge for them being so hard to beat last year. She played through injury and was at a high level all year. Madison is a playmaker on defense, creating turnovers and getting easy buckets. She is tremendous in transition and a great shooter. A healthy Madison this year will be hard to stop, and she will again be one of the better two-way players in the area.
Jahniya Marion Jahniya Marion 5’5″ | CG Centreville HS | 2024 State VA was district player of the year last year and had a fantastic season. Centreville will be an excellent team, and Jahniya has a chance of repeating. She can play either guard position effectively and is a superb athlete. She gets to the rim a lot and puts pressure on the defense. She knocks down jump shots and fits really well as a distributor, too. Jahniya always plays hard. Her transfer to Centreville last year was one of the best moves for her. Jahniya could very easily be on the first team because, again, she was district player of the year in a loaded conference.
Simone Pendleton Simone Pendleton 5’11” | SF Falls Church | 2024 State VA is a two-way star. She has a deep bag of offensive moves and has a deadly jump shot, especially from mid-range. She was very close to averaging almost 20 points last year, and I’m sure she will eclipse that mark this season. Simone does all this offensively while being the district defensive player of the year. Her improvement as a player from year 2 to year 3 was so impressive, and I’m sure she will take another jump this year. She loves taking big shots and was another player I found it hard leaving out of the first team.
Highlights
Alysa Carrigan Alysa Carrigan 5’11” | SF Tuscarora | 2024 State VA is an elite athlete, and she’s starting to put her game together. She is a champion long jumper and an all-around great basketball player. With Tuscarora losing Grace Middleton, one of the best players in the area last year and district player of the year, Alysa will have to take on a more significant role. Alysa led Tusky in rebounds and blocks, and I suspect she’ll lead them in points this year. She is a phenomenal defender, and her athleticism and energy allow her to guard almost every position on the court. If Alysa’s jumper and overall offensive potential pan out this year, she will finish this season ranked higher than 31.
Highlights
At my Center/forward spot, I have Noelle Cabiness Noelle Cabiness 6’0″ | PF Briar Woods | 2024 State VA . Noelle has all the tools to be an absolute problem on both ends. On defense, she is already good with her instincts, length, and energy. On offense, she’s becoming a real threat from 3-point range and does an excellent job on the offensive glass. She is a great athlete and provides this Briar team with a lot. Noelle has gotten more attention over the past year, and I think she has a fantastic season as a senior.
