Hoop Life Basketball Showcase: Team 3 Evaluation

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There were 4 teams that competed in the Hoop Life Basketball Showcase and Team 3 was full of high IQ guards and wings. This teams roster consisted of all around players who all had specific skills that complemented each other. Once they understood each others skill set, they played well and was in position to win each game. She showed everyone why she has the top spot at the Hoop Life Basketball Showcase. This players not only has the size and physicality to mix things up with other bigs, but has the IQ to exploit mismatches with guards. Being able to stretch the floor because of her shooting ability makes her even harder to guard. Cedar Rapids Prairie High School team has a deep roster and she will be another one of their key pieces to win games. One of my favorite things about this player is her coachability. She understands that she's a high level player and also understands she can be better. Brynlie will give you everything she has and makes players around her better. She is a player who will do what it takes to put her team in a position to win. From diving on the floor, box out and rebound, she is the ultimate team player who doesn't play outside of herself. Offensively, Presley is more than capable of shooting the ball and there wasn't a bad shot that she took. One her drives to the basket, she looks to draw a second defender to give her teammates open shots. She has a good feel for the game and is always shot ready. Vana made it to the final round of Queen of the Court at the basketball showcase and was sharp. You can always tell who's been working on their game! From a shooting standpoint, she can shoot high percentage off the catch and off the dribble. She gets creative with her ball handling and expects contact from the defense. Being able to finish with both hands is what's needed at the next level and that's a box she can check off! She has the ball on a string! Watching her in Queen of the Court, there were tons of compliments about her skill set from other coaches. One thing they liked the most about her is how strong she is and how much body control she has. Her one on one skill set transitioned into their 5 on 5 games and she was even more dominant there. Romey looks to make the defense pay in transition and if she sees a one on one opportunity she will take it and knows she's stronger playing off of two feet to get And-One's. At the showcase, she shot the ball well from well beyond the arc. I could hear her teammates encourage her to continue to let it fly. When she's pushing the ball in transition, she gets creative around the rim on her finishes. In a half court setting, she blows by defenders because of how quick her first step is. Avery is beginning to understand good shots vs great shots. If her shot wasn't open on the catch, she'd attack the gaps and read the defense. She does a nice job playing off the catch. From incorporating her jab step, peaking at the rim when she catches the ball, you can tell she's put in the work. One of my favorite things about this player is the pace she plays at. Dylan understands playing under control and doesn't do too much or anything unnecessary. She keeps the game simple and reads the defense very well. Additionally, she is a natural leader and can play on any team and make them better. She has a team first mentality and will get the job done! Rylie sets great screens by creating contact, makes the right effective cuts, and keeps good spacing offensively. On the defensive side, she closes out to shooters under control, keeps players out of the middle, and does a great job on her box outs. Martinsdale-St. Mary's has a freshman in their program who will help them win games this season. At the showcase, she communicated effectively with her teammates on both sides of the floor. She was vocal when she was open, made great cuts to the basket, and took good shots. When she shoots the ball, it's hard for the defense to contest because of how quick her release is. Kennedy forced the defense to close out quicker than they wanted which opened up the driving lanes. She drove to the basket and made good decisions with the ball. I like that she knew when to drive and kick and when to drive and look to score.
