The event featured some of the top teams and talent in the Southern California area and was held from Sept. 30-Oct. 1. I was able to attend the event on Sunday, Oct. 1 and here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1.
Morgan Hawkins

– Corona Centennial 2024
Hawkins is a solid combo guard who is capable of being a primary option offensively. She has gotten very good at being able to create her own shot. She can attack off the dribble and get downhill; puts pressure on the defense at the rim. She can pull up and shoot off the dribble too. She finishes strong at the basket through contact. Pushes pace well in transition.
2. Sriaya Peters – Birmingham 2024
Peters is a strong guard with solid defensive ability. She plays strong on ball defense and forces the ball-handler into difficult decisions and turnovers. Off the turnover she can start the break and get to attacking downhill. She’s strong and can muscle her way through the defense to the basket. Able to draw contact at the rim and get to the free-throw line.

I’ve seen Brown play a couple of times now and she’s always one of the best point guards at any event. She’s and unselfish, pass-first player who has good court vision. She sees the complete floor and finds the cracks in the defense. Strong ball-handler who can dribble under control and get to where she wants on the court. Good drive and kick player.
4. Mia Guerrido – Village Christian 2024
Guerrido is a tough guard. She’s strong, she can handle the ball and she can get into the paint. Very solid off the dribble game. She can use her strength well to finish at the basket. She’s more of a scoring guard but she can handle the ball and be a playmaker as well. Capable of playing alongside another ball-handler as the off-guard.
5. EvaMarie Rios – Saugus 2026
Rios is a quick little point guard who controls the pace of the game. She plays under control and within the flow of the game. Knows when to speed up and push the tempo and when slow down in the halfcourt. Her passing was on target in the game I saw; able to consistently find the open teammate. She’s very quick off the ball too, constantly moving and most of her scoring came from off-ball movement, catch and shoot opportunities.
