Elder showed me a totally different dimension of her game and that was she understands how to “takeover when needed”. Yeah, I knew she was explosive off the dribble and was a highlight waiting to happen with her acrobatic finishes after contact however her “on the court presence” spoke volumes as she could impact the game without scoring. With that being said, down the stretch and in the clutch, she wants the ball and delivers not only off the dribble but with her mid to long-range jumper. Her defense, on the ball, was tough and she played the passing lane, all of this extra from the PGH Top 250 Expo
Bennett is “IN IT” and as she gradually continues to move up by showing on the court progression. I hadn’t seen her all club season yet at the Girl’s TABC Showcase, she has added even more to her game. The interior defense as well as timing to block shots was already there yet she’s moving more fluidly and even stepped outside the paint to defend. She’s going after the ball off the rim, on both ends, even showed she could handle afterward yet her scoring around the basket is another big plus
Silva had me smiling at the PGH Top 250 Expo as I have also called it Showcase which is the right word because I have been watching her SHOWCASE her skills for seems like a lifetime ago. The great things about her is her desire to want to get better, yeah she could always handle the ball under pressure and see the floor but each season she adds something and one thing is her ability to score off the dribble, with either hand while attacking with either hand, under pressure. Mid to long-range, check and that’s always was she does to her man on the defensive end as her “on the ball” pressure is causing problems
Highlights
Carroll continues to sing tunes that are hits and seeing her at both the HCU Camp as well as the Girls TABC Showcase took me back to that 3rd grader I wrote about being special. I’ll catch her today at the Peggy Whitley Classic and watching her take over games “in the flow” has been nice for me. She blows by defenders off the dribble, she elevates on her jumper to drop the mid to long-range over outstretched hands yet her “seeing the floor” both in the set as well as in transition is also nice, so is the “on the ball” pressure she applies on the defensive end
Collier is a menace around the basket and although she’s a couple of inches shy of “the magic number” she plays as if she’s taller. Her relentlessness inside the paint going after the ball off the rim at the PGH Top 250 Expo JUST DID IT for me because I love #THROWBACK stuff, which she also did by blocking shots. Another thing was her strength and power and a great example would be her scoring with players literally hanging on her. She gave me a glimpse of the “hands and footwork” as well as the “drop step” yet as good as she was the last time I saw her, with her DESIRE there is no telling how high she climbs
