I caught them a couple of weekends ago in Desoto at the opening without Taliyah Parker Taliyah Parker 6'1" | SF South Grand Prairie | 2024 State TX who was on a visit to Texas A&M where she committed and since A&M is where my daughter won a National Championship in 2011 GIG EM! Here ya go
Tac is BACK and leading the attack for her squad. Her presence on the floor takes them from a very good team to legitimate state champion contender and since she’s already committed to South Carolina, that should speak volumes. Her wingspan, very good timing as well as interior defense is going to create major problems. She scores around the basket, showed the short jumper and even made some solid passes via high post. She played sparingly as her coach is getting her ready for when it counts, I’ll catch them again in December
Carr is another interior driving force that tickles me as she shows contact is irrelevant and watching her score with players literally hanging on her is special. Her “hands and footwork” get her the #THROWBACK hashtag but she also can score off the dribble as well as drop it facing the basket. She rebounds and runs the floor, on both ends, her interior defense was also solid
Barnes is one of the most underrated players in Texas, all classes and she’s starting to realize just how good she is. In the blink of an eye, she can take over games and since she’s not only long and athletic, but stands above 6’0, which is the magic number, she’s hard to contain and here’s why. She can take the defender however she wants off the dribble and finish, with either hand, after contact. Her mid to long-range game is solid, so is her defense but she rebounds and plays the passing lane

Herbert was one of the best players I have seen this season that I knew nothing about so let me start with the “long and athletic” and stands at “the magic number” so I’m guessing I missed her at the Girl’s TABC Showcase a few moths ago. I didn’t miss her this time as her spin off the dribble to the basket had me dizzy yet her finishing after contact and showing she could drop the pull-up jumper was nice, so was her strength inside the paint going after rebounds
Peterson just fills up the stat sheet and watching her overpower defenders in the paint using her frame is always a pleasure because she not only finishes after contact, she understands how to create it. She also scores off the dribble as well as from outside but her court vision, both in the set as well as in transition is very good. She plays interior defense as well as baseline to baseline “on the ball” not to leave out her playing the passing lane and handling the ball afterward. I also enjoyed her getting position to take charges
I also have to mention the abundance of athletic guards who not only see the floor but can score off the dribble as well as apply heat baseline to baseline and they fall into that #sizedontmatter hashtag because they can play
