Here’s a look at guards to watch at the tournament.
Hays
Molly Martin Molly Martin 5'7" | CG Hays | 2025 State KS , 5’7″, PG, 2025 – Martin is very fast, very quick floor leader with strong handles and passing skills. She finishes well with either hand at speed, uses her length defensively to create turnovers and disrupt passing lanes, and is clutch from the line. Martin is poised, has strong floor reading ability, and takes advantage of opponents’ mistakes very well.
Kenlee Winter Kenlee Winter CG Hays | 2025 State KS , SG/SF, 2025 – Winter is a quick, fast, hustling back court disruptor with size. She handles with speed and is a credible perimeter shooter.
Hugoton
Abigail Slocum Abigail Slocum 5'4" | PG Hugoton | 2024 State KS , 5’4″, PG, 2024 – Slocum returns following an injury that saw her miss much of the 2023 season. With good speed and experience from past state tournament runs she will be counted upon for leadership.
Emily Tinoco, SG, 2026 – Tinoco gained serious experience playing with 4 graduated seniors, 3 now off playing Division I or II basketball. She is a solid perimeter threat with her feet set and anticipates well to shoot gabs defensively. Her length benefits challenging shots and disrupting passing lanes.
Manhattan
Kat Ball Kat Ball CG Manhattan | 2026 State KS , 5’2″, SG, 2026 – On a senior heavy roster Ball worked her way into playing time on varsity and jayvee last season with her quickness and perimeter shooting.
Maxine Doering Maxine Doering 5'8" | SG Manhattan | 2024 State KS , 5’9″, SG, 2024 – Doering is one of the few returners from senior rich 2023 team. She has long been a substantial perimeter threat with good size and length. A very solid, well-rounded player Doering is committed to row for Kansas State in 2024.
Millwood (OK)
Brandie Harrod Brandie Harrod 6'1" | SF Millwood | 2025 State OK , 6’1″, G/F, 2025 – Harrod has pulled in offers from likes of Kansas State and Wichita State. Oklahoma lead scout Jason Green calls her “college ready” She is very strong and has strong handles.
Newton
Mia Coleman Mia Coleman 5'4" | SG Newton | 2025 State KS , 5’4″, SG, 2025 – Coleman is just scratching the surface on her potential. Quick with good transition speed she handles well in transition.
Olathe West
Lexi Cooley Lexi Cooley 5'5" | PG Olathe West | 2026 State KS , 5’5″, PG, 2024 – Cooley has serious speed and quickness. As tough as she is on the ball she also irritates defenders off the ball with her off-side help and passing lane slicing. With the ball she is very adept at finding and attacking open seams. A high hustle player who has committed to play college ball at McPherson College.
Emma Sales Emma Sales 5'10" | SG Olathe West | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, 5’10”, 2025 – Sales is deep into establishing herself as one of the top players in state and has picked up several Division II offers. A strong shooter with a quick release she also will play multiple positions. An athletic rebounder as well.
TMP-Marian
Brooke Koenigsman Brooke Koenigsman 5'8" | SG Thomas More Prep-Marian | 2025 State KS , 5’8″, SG, 2025 – Koenigsman is a returning second team selection from the brutal Mid-Continent League. The most experienced player on the team, she has started for the better part of a past two seasons.
Washburn Rural
Zoe Canfield Zoe Canfield 5'11" | PF Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, CG, 2024 – One of the top players in the class, the Kansas commit. Returning from a mid-season injury she put up 10.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals in 2022 for the Class 6A state champions. A strong defender Canfield can be deadly with range from beyond the arc. She is virtually automatic from the line.
Kate Hinck Kate Hinck 5'4" | PG Washburn Rural | 2025 State KS , 5’4″, PG, 2025 – Hinck has serious quickness with the ball. While very aggressive off the bounce she also works the court well driving, backing out, and using whirls and other moves to create.
