There is a saying amongst basketball coaches that goes like this: "There are three people that are never allowed to have a bad practice: 1) head coach, 2) best player, and 3) point guard." This simply goes to show the importance of the position, as the PG is often the leader of the team, and an extension of the coach on the floor. Let's look at some of the best PG's in the 2025 class.

She's a brilliant passer that is always looking for ways to get her teammates involved. She possesses a great IQ, and thinks the game in ways most players simply can't. Possesses great handles, doesn't over dribble, has a quick first step attacking closeouts, doesn't get rattled under pressure, limits turnovers, etc. She does all the little things well. She's a nifty finisher around the rim, and has a nice floater. Once her 3 ball becomes consistent, she'll get to another level.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65302a380043f"} /-->

She's sneaky quick, and when she gets into the paint can play of one or two feet; has a creative finishing bag with either hand; has a deadly floater. Ultra confident 3pt shooter, not scared to shoot step backs from deep. High level court vision. Often is content just to make the simple pitch ahead instead of trying to do too much. Nice pull-up jumper. Moves well without the ball. Teammates seem to thrive off her energy and enthusiasm. She will be a problem this season for teams in the Upper Cumberland.rnrnu003ca href=u0022https://x.com/AliyahHawkins15/status/1682600199645020162u0022u003ehttps://x.com/AliyahHawkins15/status/1682600199645020162u003c/au003e","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65302a38004b1"} /-->

Her HS coach (Jason Mayfield) made her a team Captain as a sophomore, and she earned both All-District and All-Region honors as as sophomore. Priest has led every team on which she has ever played (other than her freshman HS season) in assists (including in FBC Reign GUAA last summer when she averaged nearly 5 assists a game). A true PG and floor general, Priest can hit from 3 and athletic enough to get into the paint and collapse the D. She's a gritty defender with a high motor: wins 50/50 balls, takes charges, gets on the floor. Does the little things that impact winning. She also missed the single season Farragut free throw record by 0.2% as a sophomore at 83.5%. Annie will again be Farragut's PG this year and will be critical to their fortunes. I'm expecting a big time season from Priest.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65302a3800563"} /-->

She sacrifices her own offense for the her teammates. Constantly thinking how to get others involved, thinking “who's got the hot hand?”, “who hasn't touched the ball in a while?”, etc. High IQ….thinks the game. Always one step ahead, and sees what others can't. A true PG that's an extension of the coach on the floor. Always in command of the offense and doesn't get rattled by pressure. Has worked very hard to improve her jumper, and we believe, she is primed for a breakout season for Stone Memorial as as junior.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65302a38005bd"} /-->

She's a gym-rat who has taken her training to another level. She can handle the rock, setting her team's offensive attack. She can shoot the ball consistently, knocking down 3s or coming off pick n'roll action to score it. She can defend, locking up the PG of the other club. As she goes, her team goes. Plays with speed and full effort, for 32 minutes. A multi-level scoring threat, she has a great feel for the game and great instincts that can't be taught.rnrnShe allows her defense to become her offense, using her speed and quick hands to create turnovers. She gets downhill with the basketball, finishing strong against contact. She's a disruptive on the ball defender, frustrating opponents the full length of the floor.rnrnWashington has had a phenomenal offseason, capturing the eyes of collegiate coaches. They loved her hustle and speed, her ability to rally her troops, and just the way she plays the game. Look for her to take that momentum of hers into the HS season and be one of the top players in the area.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-65302a3800666"} /-->
