Expert Analysis

An incredibly high-IQ player that makes every around her better. She’s sneaky good athletically, and is a high level defender. Offensively, she’s an above average shooter from three. She doesn’t force anything, and is willing passer that understands the value of quick decisions and ball movement. Really deceptive with her head fakes and jabs which allows her to get into the paint. Nice floater and mid-range jumper.

Priest is the prototypical old school PG. She never seems to get rattled, she’s always thinking of how to get her teammates involved. She defends hard and leads both with effort and communication. It’s what every coach would want in their PG. The things she’s great at don’t always appear in the box score, but if you know the game–you recognize her impact. Priest shot 57% from 3 proving she can get buckets when called upon. Her eFG% was 64%! Plus she led her team in assists. Great weekend for this kid.

She carries herself like a leader. She’s just really professional in her approach (must be a coach’s kid or something?). She leads this group well. What she puts on the table is hard to describe, but you can tell her teammates look to her for confidence. A true leader.

I think Annie Preist in waaay underrated. She’s very similar to

in the area of intangibles: she stay’s poised as your PG. She controls the pace, she’s mindful of what her teammates need, she gives positive energy…..AND as she proved in the HS postseason, she can get buckets when her number is called. She also gives great effort defensively. She’s a college level PG.

Priest is the heartbeat of Farragut. She’s everything you’d hope for in a PG–a vocal leader, uber competitive, fearless, coach’s kid with high IQ. When

is playing well….she unlocks Farraguts other scorers. They don’t have any one kid that scores 20….but a bunch of kids that can score 10-16 points.
And Priest is the engine that makes them go. And on top of that….she knows when she needs to be the scorer. She is a fearless shot maker (I’ve seen lots of “shot takers” but very few “shot makers”.

was a shot maker last night finishing with 14.
Priest set the tone from the get go. She was the aggressor and the Lady Admirals fed off her energy and confidence. She scored 9 first half points.

Farragut has won 5 of 6 (with a split to Bearden in there), and I think they are playing their best basketball of the season. Led by the poise and confidence of PG

In a 42-38 defensive battle, no one’s stats are going to jump off the page. But, if you watched, plenty of girls made their presence known. When Priest is available for Farragut, they are just a different team, and she looked terrific last night in leading her team in a hostile rivalry game.
She buried the dagger three to give Farragut the lead, and finished with 9 points, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds in a well-rounded two-way effort. Love this kid’s poise, confidence, and willingness to want to take (and make) big shots.

is rounding back into full health, and her Farragut club is beginning to stack big wins together, and are now sitting at 5-0 in the district (tied with a school that’s also pretty good called Bearden). It’s apparent that Priest is one of those players who’s value is worth far more than simply the measurable stats (which are also really good by the way–and she went for 15 and 6 assists on Tuesday night). Farragut is only two games over .500, but their strength of schedule is tremendous, and they’ve got the talent to be really dangerous.

Sometimes you don’t know how good, or important, a player is until you don’t have them. Farragut HS has had a tough year. They’ve played an extremely hard schedule, they fight and claw and scratch and keep every game close. But, they are still hanging around .500 in large part because of the subtraction of Priest as she’s battled injuries. She’s a true PG that leads her teammates, that exudes confidence, and makes everyone around them better.
