SubscribeGirls’ high school basketball season in Michigan starts in a couple weeks, and excitement is already picking up. Plymouth struggled last season, going only 6-17. However, the team has been working hard, and they hope to improve their record this year. Let’s take a look at who they have returning.

Elena DiMaria
Elena DiMaria
“Elena was All KLAA a year ago and has only improved. She’s added an outside jump shot to her already refined offensive game. Her footwork is elite. She is so crafty and can score in so many different ways. She has an opportunity to have a memorable senior season. Offered by Macomb a few weeks ago. Elena is one of the best-kept secrets in the state since she has not played AAU. I expect coaches will be knocking on her door after the senior film is sent out.” – Coach Ballard

Mackenzie Dicken

“We have had two All-State Point Guards in the last eight years (Chantal LeDoux, Kyra Brandon), and Kenz could be the best mix of both. She’s not as good as a scorer as LeDoux was, but she’s close. She doesn’t pass the ball as well as Kyra, but she’s close. Her mid-range game is elite, and her basketball IQ is extremely high. She’s everything a coach wants in a point guard. She’s unselfish and makes everyone around her better. Her teammates love to play with her because they know she will put them in spots to be successful.” – Coach Ballard

Zaynab Saab

“Z may be our most important player in winning games. Z does what’s needed for the team. Do you need someone to guard the best player? Dive for a loose ball? Get a tough rebound? Z is your girl. We will win some big games because Z does the little things that add up.” – Coach Ballard

Annie Flavin
Annie Flavin
“All-State Golfer. Annie is playing with a lot of confidence after a big summer. Annie can dominate the game with her post moves. A fiery competitor that won’t back down from anyone. Excellent finisher around the rim with back-to-the-basket moves that make college coaches salivate.” – Coach Ballard

Olivia Maciag
Olivia Maciag
“Twitchy guard who finds creative ways to get to the basket and finish. Deadly jump shot from outside (38% last season)—an excellent on-the-ball defender who is relentless.” – Coach Ballard

Evelyn Stiglish
Evelyn Stiglish
“Fiery competitor. Excellent communicator on the defensive end who plays with a big-time motor. Tough and competes on every possession. On-The-Ball defense makes her one of the best in the league. She can stick the outside jumper and attack the rim.” – Coach Ballard

Kasey Wilson
Kasey Wilson
“Pesky Defender. She plays with a great motor. Defensive communication is elite among high school players—solid shooter from outside. A winning player that you’re glad is on your team.” – Coach Ballard
COACHES QUOTES/OUTLOOK
“It’s cliche to say we had a great summer, but we did have a great summer. It’s been a painful last two seasons regarding our win-loss record. Our kids have worked extremely hard during the off-season to ensure we have a big jump this year in the win-loss column. Once we moved Kenz Dicken to the point guard position, our outlook on the season changed significantly. We play better as a team, and everyone feels like they play a valuable role for our team. We expect that we play unselfish and hard at all times. If we can do that, we will have the type of season we so desperately seek.” – Coach Ballard
