Starting off our 2024 Player Rankings Update in our #5 spot is Olivia Loomis-Goltl Olivia Loomis-Goltl 5’10” | PG Bridgeport | 2024 State NE . Loomis-Goltl is a guard that will be attending the University of Northern Colorado once her Senior season comes to a close. So far this year, Loomis-Goltl has been fantastic. She is leading the state in scoring per game while helping her team put together a successful overall record up until this point. She has a great feel for the game and because of that, she can take advantage of her mismatches at this high school level. She is obviously skilled in several aspects and that should translate to the collegiate level when everything is said and done. She is smart enough to know that she can adapt in any situation, making it a success for herself and her teammates. I’ve seen it first-hand a few times over this past year and I don’t expect that to slow down anytime soon.
I could say a whole lot about Inia Jones Inia Jones 5’7″ | PG Omaha Central | 2024 State NE but what is most important is that she is having a great Senior season and afterwards, she will be on the way to help out Bradley University at the next level. Jones is impressive because of her mixture of skill, athleticism, and strength. She isn’t the tallest player on the floor by any means but she has an aggressive attitude going toward the basket, always looking for a bucket and she has a fantastic second-jump at the rim, if she does happen to miss her first shot on occasions. Jones has been one of the best and most fun guards to watch throughout the state for a long time. She has had some great seasons at the high school level but I’m sure she can’t wait to take her skill to the college court, where she is planning on showing everyone else what they missed out on. Something, I can’t personally wait to see.
Doneelah Washington Doneelah Washington 6’1″ | C Lincoln Northeast | 2024 State NE is one of the premier post players throughout the state of Nebraska, regardless of Class. Washington has it all. Height, balance, coordination, footwork, touch, and a great attitude. When you combined those all together and put a player in the right spot to succeed, they are going to and that’s exactly what Washington has done the past few years. She has taken her time, dominated any court she stepped on and because of that, she will be playing at the next level following this senior season. All in all, Washington is talented in a plethora of ways. She doesn’t just do one thing well but several things and that is why she retains our #3 spot in this Update. I don’t see many better than her out of the entire state, not to mention her own perspective Class.
McKenna Murphy McKenna Murphy 5’11” | SG Elkhart North | 2024 State NE and her Elkhorn North High School team are coming off of a state title from last season and it’s looking like they are prepped for another one this season. Going into winter break, Elkhorn North is firing on cylinders at a high rate and they are currently undefeated because of it. As for Murphy, she is doing what she does. She is a nicely-sized shooting guard, that understands her skill-set and job on her team. Sometimes it can be tough to stand-out when you are playing in high school with a Top 50 player in the country but Murphy does a great job at having her own moments. She is a knock-down shooter on the catch, very skilled off of the dribble going either way, and she can distribute or rebound at a high rate as well. She has proven over the past 3.5 years that she is one of the best guards throughout the state and she is dedicated to finishing off her Senior season on that same note. She just needs to stay locked in and it will be another rememberable winter for everyone involved.
The best player throughout the entire state of Nebraska comes in the form of Senior – Britt Prince Britt Prince 5’11” | PG Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE . Prince is a point guard that can do it all. Doesn’t matter the competition, doesn’t matter the location of the game or what time it tips. Once Prince steps on the court, she is ready to go and will do anything to help her team come out with a win. You may ask, what can’t Prince do at this point? I’m not entirely sure. I’ve seen her pushed to her limits once or twice and both times, she was unstoppable. I don’t expect that to be the case once she gets to Nebraska next season but as for now, I’m sure she is going to continue her dominance at the high school level for the rest of this season. Having the two best players out of the 2024 Class is a cheat code for any high school team but only if those players work together, fluidly. In this case, that couldn’t be more true. Price and Murphy are two top dogs, that compete and compliment each other, every game. From what I’ve heard, they have been playing together for a long time and have a type of connection you don’t see too often but when you do see it, you know it’s special.
