In most cases local evaluators get to see a player multiple times over a long period and in different situations and even see them head to head with other local players. National evaluators may see a player a few times over the course of their career if lucky and must form an opinion on limited viewing. National evaluators can also be influenced by thee politics of college coaches trying to improve their class rankings in contract negotiations, AAU coaches funneling players to certain events and getting locked in to players early. Most of the national guys have a good eye for talent and players that are ranked high are well deserving. At the end of the day, however, the ranking order is subjective and is just an opinion based on the criteria that the evaluator feels is most important at the time.
Here are the hot players in the latest 2024 update:
The gap between #1 and #2 is small but the top ranked player’s stock is still rising. Over the years I have seen both Kyndal and Madison play more than anyone outside of their parents, so the 24 player gap that ESPN has is very questionable not to say who should be higher. I would say that both players have held the top spot locally over the years and the final ranking could come down to the head to head battles on
Highlights
Marley is one of the areas best players and sometimes being on one of the best teams can make you forget that. This all figures into why she’s not listed as one of ESPN’s top 100 players even though she clearly can be. She as everything that college coaches put on their wish lists, length, athleticism, shooting and defense are amongst her top traits.
Toby is consistent game to game and continues to produce solid stats. She has good size for a guard but her work ethic and effort is what makes her effective on the court. The #17 player will outwork most of the players on both sides of the ball and she makes Visitation a dangerous team even if they are overmatched on paper she still gives them a chance to win. She holding a top 75 spot in ESPN and an Ivy League commit, not bad for a player that many would consider under the radar.
Cameron is starting to draw attention as Bullis is starting to draw attention. She is effective from beyond the arc but is also just as effective in the paint. She has the size to play multiple positions and can defend both the post and perimeter. She rose to the #11 spot and is a key third option as the Bulldogs look for national status with their upgraded roster.
