Riley continues to elevate her game on both ends of the court and her “on the ball” defense has definitely taken a jump as she’s showing she can apply heat baseline to baseline. Her court vision as well as ballhandling under pressure are also huge pluses yet watching her set the defender up to attack the basket and finish strongly, at times off balance and after contact always has me smiling along with her mid to long-range jumper
Caver impressed me the first time I saw her as I thought the 7th grader was heading to high school as she was giving “IT” to players heading to the next level so her “poise under pressure” has always been there and watching her elevate her game all around has been a treat for me. She can set the defender up in the set to drop the jumper, she also can nail the stop and pop in transition yet her body control on her finishes as well as court vision has gotten better
I just gave her an evaluation from the Texas Ladies Jamboree yet after looking back at my notes, she showed something else that has gotten better and that would be her ‘hands and footwork” and when you combine that with her size, wingspan and upside, it’s no surprise she’s heading to the 2025 Watchlist dropping soon
Chardel Terell
Chardel Terell
Terrel has smoothly placed herself in a position to be on The Watchlist coming up and here’s why. She’s a long and athletic guard, that too is the base yet her explosiveness off the dribble is among the best in the state, under control that is. She finishes acrobatically, after contact included but her body control places her in that “highlight waiting to happen” category. Solid defender that can also drop the mid to long range and her “catch and shoot” keeps getting better
Kamryn McClaurin
Kamryn McClaurin
McClaurin reminds me of the McLaren in a way because she can go from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye. She too is “long and athletic” and a couple of inches shy of “the magic number” doesn’t matter because she plays as if she’s above it. Her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots as well as snagging rebounds to go coast to coast has gotten better but she’s also going AFTA everything yet her changing hands in mid-air to score dropped the mic
Erica Riley Hairston
Erica Riley Hairston
Hairston is BAAAAAACCCCCCK and with her being another “long and athletic” player that grabbed my attention early, it’s great to see her doing what she does on the court. She has a deceptive first step to get by the defender and score off the dribble after contact but I’m also noticing her court vision has gotten better in the set, in transition as well as her attacking the basket. She elevates on her jumper and drops it while being defended, she rebounds and plays the passing lane
