Although Villarreal wasn’t available due to a minor injury, both will be added to the 2025 Watchlist coming up. Wheatley’s Autumn Breedlove Autumn Breedlove 5'8" | CG Wheatley | 2024 State TX was highlighted earlier in the week and Sa’Nyjiah Walker was on the Freshman Watch from this event
Zara Chiwuba
Zara Chiwuba
Chinwuba’s upside is intriguing and let me start this off with her being “long and athletic” which will always be the base. She did a good job of not only rebounding on both ends of the court, she went AFTA everything off the rim. She also went after loose balls, this includes playing the passing lane but her timing was also nice as she blocked, deflected and even altered some shots. Nice hands and footwork inside the paint, her interior defense also was a plus
Madeline Soluren
Madeline Soluren
Soluren did a good job of handling the ball and seeing the floor under pressure and her court vision in the set, including dishing off the dribble, as well as in transition all stood out. She finished strongly after attacking the basket from multiple angles, nice body control played a part in that yet she also showed she could drop it from mid to long-range
Da’Nasia Parrish
Da’Nasia Parrish
Parrish is another freshman I caught during the week that is showing signs of being an impact player in the future and when you factor in her being “long and athletic” with a very nice wingspan, I eyeballed her a couple of inches taller but the little things she does that will turn out to be big like keeping the ball high, and showing nice movement inside the paint to finish will play a major role in how she progresses on the floor. She rebounded on both ends, did a good job defending and changed the trajectory of some shots
Anyla Lazard
Anyla Lazard
Lazard showed a lot of “power inside the paint” and I’m talking both ends as she finished strongly after after contact, at times with players literally hanging on her but she also rebounded with authority on both ends. Another fun fact was her handling the ball afterward and seeing the floor in transition but her court vision in the set was also a plus. She attacked the basket from the wing, she also did a good job defending both in and outside the paint and she played the passing lane
Solomon has shown glimpses of being a player that could take over games offensively and watching her create her shot while being defended and getting her shot off and dropping it, from mid to long range, with a hand in her face is part of the reason. Her ability to “catch and shoot” has gotten better, her acrobatic finishes are also nice as well as her court vision. On the flip, she enjoys applying on the ball pressure baseline to baseline and shortly after the event, she dropped a career high of 39 points which “SIMS” up how I started this
