After giving up the first hoop to the Knights of Trinity Academy Spring Hill went on a 19-1 run that extended into the early second quarter. Once back on the board the Knights and the Broncos played a tightly contested game in which Trinity Academy got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way. Spring Hill would claim a 15 point victory in which several players from both teams showed plenty of game. Take a look.
Spring Hill
Sydney Buscher Sydney Buscher 6'0" | SF Spring Hill | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, PF, 2025 – Buscher racked up 14 points with her work around the lane. Especially tough going left, she can finish through contact off the drive and out of her post game. She has good length, quickness, and a nose for the boards. Fouled often, she shot 9/10 from the line.
Isla Herman Isla Herman 5'10" | SG Spring Hill | 2026 State KS , 5’9″, SG, 2026 – Herman led all scorers with 20 points. She runs the point at times and broke more than a couple sets of ankles working in space, showing how tough she can be to defend. Once into the lane she finished with athleticism and pulled up for quick jumpers. She also proved herself to be a perimeter threat. With her good size and quickness she is a tough match up. Herman is also hard to run down after a steal.
Anna LaPlante Anna LaPlante SF Spring Hill | 2024 State KS , SF, 2024 – LaPlante was really good cutting off screens quickly and flashing into the lane. Caught the ball well, passed it well, and continued to move well into space. LaPlante used her good athleticism, speed, and length to also challenged and blocked shots well. While she only scored two points she has the ability to put up points. She does a lot of the intangible things teams need.
Trinity Academy
Makenna Balzer Makenna Balzer 5'8" | CG Trinity Academy | 2025 State KS , 5’8″, CG, 2026 – Balzer led the Knights with 15 points. Scoring at speed through traffic, with three balls including a sweet make off an in-bounds play catch, and using her quickness and athleticism in the mid-range Balzer was tough to stop. Consistent on both ends of the floor with her energy she used her speed, quickness, length, and headiness to defend inside and out and to disrupt passing lanes.
Audrey Smith Audrey Smith 6'3" | C Trinity Academy | 2026 State KS , 6’3″, C, 2026 – Smith’s scoring in the elbow area showed her to be a good mid-range shooter including when using the glass. She has solid quickness on the offensive end, moves well without the ball, and uses her length well to gather her share of rebounds. Smith also has very good north-south speed. Defensively she challenged shots well around the basket but a couple of the Broncos were able to shake loose of her working off of screens. Definitely a big to watch, high potential with this one.
Thasanee Wilmeth Thasanee Wilmeth 5'6" | SG Trinity Academy | 2026 State KS , 5’6″, SG, 2026 -Wilmeth was perhaps the most consistent defender and offensive threat outside of Balzer for the Knights. Defending in the full court she showed good footwork, speed, and quickness. She also showed those talents on the offensive end to create and play with physicality. Perhaps the fasted player on the floor for either team Wilmeth also showed she is a perimeter shooting threat by nailing a quick release three off a in-bounds play.
