Martin has been missed by me a few times this season because of her not being able to play varsity but there has been plenty of buzz about her and after using my search bar, which is there for a reason, I knew her name rang a bell and a couple of seasons ago she did just that, rang some bells, see evaluation here. I’ll get a chance to catch her next month with her high school team and give an update
Roberts has started her high school career showing exactly what she brings to the table on the offensive end and since she understands how and when to set the defender up, she has put up numbers multiple times. Her mid to long-range game is solid, well her range is getting deeper yet she is also attacking the basket from the wing, with either hand and scoring after contact
Highlights
Burns has made a solid debut in high school and her figuring it out has always been something I loved about her game. She has gone from a player with good size that could drop the long ball to score multiple ways including off the dribble and around the basket but her rebounding and handling the ball afterward while being pressured is a huge plus, so is her court vision in transition as well as in the set
Highlights
Blair is a move in from another state yet she made a STATEMENT the first time I caught her playing. She’s an athletic guard that understands how to use her athleticism on both ends, nice body control on her finishes after contact, solid jumper yet her “on the ball” pressure can be smothering baseline to baseline. It’s also impressive when opposing high school coaches hit me up asking “have you seen this kid”
Golden follows a rule that I love to use, not many will catch that, but it’s “heady players that comprehend the simple things that will turn out to be big” fits her perfectly because she THINKS the game. She can play the 1 or 2 effective, she understands how to run a team by controlling the tempo yet she can flip the switch and take a game over offensively by attacking to either score or dish, nice court vision in transition as well plus her mid to long-range game while being defended is nice
Highlights
Grays older sister is in her freshman season with North Carolina and she told me a couple of seasons ago to watch out for baby sister because she is a #D1Lock, a hashtag I’ve been using since before these players were born and she was right. Grays is “long and athletic” it’s still the base yet her energy around the basket stands out as she goes after everything off the rim on both ends. Her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots is good, she elevates to score facing the basket for the sort jumper, as well as around the basket
