So for those who did not know, not only have I coached, taught, scouted, and covered sports for multiple newspapers, but I am also a historian of several topics including professional wrestling.

We are in the “Road to WrestleMania” season, so I can think of no better time to debut a new PGH series of reports “Double-Double Mania.”

This debut edition features athletes who have finished with at least four double-doubles so far during this early season. Stats are based on game stats reported as of January 17, and might not reflect the few games played this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1047977' first='Lauren' last='Brummet'], 5'11”, PF, Lakeside, ‘24

The unofficial leader in double-doubles is Lakeside's Brummet. She is an impressive athlete I have seen her play volleyball, but have yet to see her play basketball in person. Brummet has recorded six double-doubles in eight games played. The Knight senior is averaging 15.9 points and 12 rebounds per contest. Brummet is currently unranked by Prep Girls Hoops but is ranked No. 118 by Prep Dig. She is underrecruited in both sports for as athletic as she is.

[player_tooltip player_id='544027' first='Avery' last='Scott'], 6'1”, PF, Stanton County, ‘26

Scott is an inside force to be reckoned with. She has registered five double-doubles through eight games. She has a big reach and scores the bulk of her points in the paint. Scott is currently averaging 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds for the Trojans. Scott is currently the eleventh-ranked player in the Kansas Class of 2026 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='827725' first='Kayte' last='Shively'], 5'8”, SF, Rawlins County ‘26

Another sophomore scoring and rebounding at an impressive pace is Rawlins County's Shively. She has finished five of her ten games played with double-doubles. She is currently averaging 11 points and 10 rebounds per contest. Prep Girls Hoops currently has Shively ranked No. 97.

Braegen Shelor, 5'8”, PF, Minneola, ‘25

Shelor is the first junior in this group. She leads the Minneola Wildcats with four double-doubled registered in 10 games played. Shelor is averaging 18.8 points and eight rebounds per game. She is a three-level scorer who has connected on 10 3-point field goals as a part of her scoring total.

[player_tooltip player_id='881162' first='Olivia' last='Stein'], 6'0”, F/C, Ingalls, ‘26

Stein is another prospect out west who I have seen play volleyball, but not basketball. She has collected four double-doubles in 10 games played. She can jump through ceilings which helps her clean the boards. Stein is averaging 15.3 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for the Ingalls Bulldogs.

[player_tooltip player_id='349427' first='Reese' last='Messer'], 5'11”, G, St. James, ‘25

Messer will be playing college volleyball after high school, but she still impresses basketball coaches and scouts with her impressive athletic skills. She has recorded four double-doubles so far in her junior season. She is currently scoring at a 16.6-point clip and is bringing down 8.4 rebounds per game. Messer is currently ranked No. 16 in the PGH rankings, and No. 1 in the Prep Dig rankings and has committed to play volleyball for USC.

[player_tooltip player_id='744050' first='Korie' last='Kirkwood'], 5'8”, G/F, Valley Falls, ‘24

Kirkwood's name can be found on almost all of the stat leader boards on Max Preps. The Dragon senior has finished four games with double-doubles. Her shooting skills and hustle have been parlayed into averages of 16 points and 9.1 rebounds through seven games. Kirkwood is currently ranked No. 119 among her Class of 2024 Kansas peers.

[player_tooltip player_id='398379' first='Amelia' last='Ramsey'], 6'0”, F/C, Highland Park, ‘25

Ramsey is a beast in the paint and has recorded a double-double in all of the Scotties' four games. Topeka got hammered with snow the past two weeks and continues to be under a “boil water advisory” which has played havoc with area teams and decimated the bottled water aisles at local stores. Through four games Ramsey has been decimated the opposition to the tune of 21.8 points per game and 14.5 rebounds. She is currently ranked No. 19 in the PGH Class of 2025 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='532208' first='Ma'Khiyah' last='Jones'], 5'8”, PF, Wichita Southeast, ‘24

Jones is the last among this group of inaugural “Double-Double Mania” entrees. She has finished four games with double-digit totals in both points and rebounds. In seven games she has averaged 17.6 points per game and 11.1 rebounds for the Southeast Golden Buffaloes. Jones is ranked No. 29 in the Class of 2024 Kansas rankings.

At least 10 high school athletes have recorded three double-double nights in the 2023-2024 season so stay tuned to PGH Kansas when those players and more are featured in future scouting reports, BROTHER!

So for those who did not know, not only have I coached, taught, scouted, and covered sports for multiple newspapers, but I am also a historian of several topics including professional wrestling.
