Continue ReadingTough, tough, player that has really been having a breakout season for Coach Wilson and the Lady Ragin’ Bulls. She is a well above-average rebounder who excels in boxing out her opponents and truly provides a strong presence in the front court alongside Sheree Gidney Sheree Gidney 5’10” | PF Hickory Ridge | 2024 State NC . She runs the floor hard, will dive after every loose ball and will not back down. She can help facilitate handling the ball through the press. In the post, she understands how to lower her shoulder into the chest of her opponent and go up very strong at the rim. Very solid defender in the paint and she is not going to be bullied. Her box scores won’t reflect her overall impact in the paint however she is sure to be a player in the 2026 class whose stock will continue to rise.
The star of Hickory Ridge and the team’s fearless leader, Sheree finished with 18 points and she was everywhere. She scored some tough buckets, including one where you drove it down the length of the floor right into the paint, gave her defender a ball fake and scored the lay – up. Over the last several years, Sheree has become a dangerous 3 level player that can attack the rim, shoot the 15 footer and drain the 3-ball. Her ability to handle the ball is very impressive, she has a lot of quickness for her size and has unreal strength. She will body defenders right out of her way and can impose her will at times. Superb night for this senior standout.

I have yet to see a game where the Shehan twins have not shown up to play. They are the model of consistency. You know what you’re going to get every time they step on the court and they are not going to disappoint. Alexis hit some big baskets tonight on the way to finishing with a game high 21 points. Alexis was relentless and on the offensive end and she was able to score from every level. She knows how to flow within the offense, precise cutting to the rim and her teammates know how to find her. She can rebound at a high level, defend at a high level and her length is a problem as she when she is guarding opponents. Alexis connected on a beautiful face-up jumper right in the face of her defender. She is such a high level player with so much talent.

Finishing the game with 17 points, Samantha had an excellent night for the Lady Wildcats on both ends of the floor. Samantha is so very active. She doesn’t stop moving. As soon as you think you know where she is, she’s gone. She will execute a back door cut for an easy layup and leave you scratching your head. She puts so much pressure on the defense as she can score the ball from all over. She can shoot right over the top of guards and bigs alike. Despite being such a strong shooter, she has no problem sticking her nose in the paint and she will rebound the ball and go up strong at the rim. She follows up her shot and she will defend and the length of the court. Samantha has such a tenacious approach to the game and she just stays in attack mode all game long. I would love to see the recruitment pick up for the Shehan twins as there are a number of programs that can benefit from what they can potentially add to a program.

Makaila Ritter
Makaila Ritter
Though listed as a guard, Makaila can certainly fill in at the 3-4 spots and be a utility player that can play and defend multiple positions. Her shooting ability allows her to stretch the floor as she knows how to get going from deep. I love her ability to defend smaller guards as this is an added bonus given her size and she is not afraid to play physical. Very impressive game form this lefty against one of the best teams in the state and she showed she knows how to hold her own in big pressure games. She is one that we will certainly be keeping our eyes on.
