Dempsey has led her Father Ryan squad wonderfully. She see’s the floor well, plays with high IQ and an nice understanding of situations and nuances of when to attack and when to slow it up. Great instincts. Really nice player.
Painter has put together a tremendous season for PA. She’s always been a big time scorer, and is still averaging 18 points a game. The new revelation for her is that she is averaging nearly 5 assists ( to go along with four steals). Her game has taken a definitive jump as she’s become a real dual threat to either score or create.
We’ve been following Ramzy for a while as she’s been among the states three point leaders all year long. It’s her assists numbers that are catching our eye today, and she is another player that has worked hard at becoming more than jut a scorer–and adding an element of being a true playmaker.
Stinnett role has been a simple one on this team–be solid. Make the right play, let the game come to you, vaue the basketball, put the ball in the best scorer’s hands on time and on target. Stinnett is a double digit scorer that also bring high level intangibles.
Akira Lacy
Akira Lacy
I had a wonderful opportunity to study Lacy’s game over the Christmas break, and she’s legit. First, she’s a blur. You just can’t stay in front of her, and she’s going to collapse the defense. While her ability to score needs to improve, on this JS team, her key role is as a high-level facilitator…and she’s done that exceptionally well this season (she’s averaging over 4 assists per game).
Harris has done a very good job leading a Beech team into being very competitive. The senior PG does all the little things that don’t show up in the box score. She’s a capable score, high level defender, and possesses elite vision.
Reagan Baker
Reagan Baker
Baker is the de facto “PG” for a McMinn Central team that is (to me) the 2A favorites. Baker is just rock solid. She knocks down open shots, she moves the ball on time and on target, plays with super high IQ, and her defensive tenacity in the run and jump press helps make give Central their defensive first identity.
