Kaylor Buse Kaylor Buse 5’9″ | PG West Linn | 2027 OR has already made her mark as one of the top players in the class of 2027, particularly at the point guard position. In her very first game of high school ever, Buse put up 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists, and she has been having incredible performances like that ever since. In the Lions’ last two games before starting league last week, Buse had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals at West Salem and 22 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the win over Westview. It is incredibly rare to find a freshman with this level of consistency and equally as rare to find a freshman with very little weakness in their game. Buse is already West Linn’s primary scorer, but also nears the top in rebounds, assists, and steals for her squad on a regular basis as she has helped them into the top 10 in 6A. Throw in the impressive amounts of poise and maturity that Buse demonstrates, and you have one of the best young point guards in the state.

Anna Bales Anna Bales 5’5″ | PG Crook County | 2027 OR has rapidly asserted herself as a one of the top talents in 4A and in the class of 2027. Bales has already had multiple jaw-dropping performances and set records in her name in her first few months of high school ball. She is currently averaging 11.6 points, 4.8 assists, and an unheard of 10.2 steals per game. She broke the Crook County steal record in back-to-back games earlier this season, first when she had 9 points, 7 assists, and 12 steals against Mazama, and then in the next game when she put up 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and the new record 21 steals versus Junction City. And Bales appears to just be getting better and better. In the Cowgirls’ most recent game with the Dalles, she had her new personal best 26 points to go along with 13 steals, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. She is putting video game numbers that are hard to even believe, and clearly she is an absolute threat on both ends of the floor and in all aspects of the game. She is a name to know for the next four years.
Kalli Gallagher Kalli Gallagher 5’4″ | PG Sunset | 2027 OR will be the face of Sunset’s program in the coming years as their point guard. She is a phenomenal athlete who shows flashes of brilliance both while running the point offensively and while showing off her steadfast on-ball defense. Although not always the biggest scorer, Gallagher is the type of player who does the little things consistently and will regularly have nights like her 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists against Jesuit or her 7 points and 4 steals versus South Salem. She has a nice shot, however, as displayed by her two challenging threes hit off the dribble in the game against Lincoln that led to her 10 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals, and she has all the potential to develop into one of Sunset’s top scorers as she and her confidence continue to grow. With the Apollos’ graduating a hefty senior class at the end of this year, Gallagher will really take the reins in the coming seasons.

Amaya Johnson Amaya Johnson PG Hillsboro | 2027 OR has been showing off her leadership skills over at Hillsboro already as their point guard. She is clearly a point guard by nature as demonstrated by the way that her eyes immediately look up the floor when the ball is in her hands, and she is constantly looking to find her teammates in optimal positions. She has had quite a few games like her 5 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals against Gresham, or her 9 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals in the game with Churchill, and as she gains more confidence as a scorer, she may have more games like her 14 points — including four 3’s — 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block over Reynolds. This game painted her as more than capable of scoring, and she also showed us a nice outside shot. One of Johnson’s best attributes is her ability to track down passes thrown by opposing teams using her excellent anticipation. Putting together all that she has to offer, Johnson will play a huge role in Hillsboro’s program in the coming years.
Banks’s Nylah Vanthom Nylah Vanthom PG Banks | 2027 OR is fitting right in with the reigning 3A state champs as one of the top point guards in her class. Vanthom has been settling into her role with each game the Braves play, and has them sitting in the #6 spot in the state with high expectations to go far in the postseason once again. She is no stranger to scoring as she frequently is amongst the leading scorers for the Braves which includes her ability to knock it down from deep. In two of her biggest performances of the season against two of their toughest opponents, Vanthom had 15 points in the narrow loss to Henley, the top-ranked team in 4A, and 10 points, including two 3-pointers, in a league game with 3A’s #1-ranked Corbett Cardinals. Her coaches have praised Vanthom’s development and look forward to her future with excitement. And in a program like Banks’s, defense is key, and Vanthom has earned her spot by playing defense right there with the best of them. She will be a key face in 3A basketball for years to come.
