At the POA Holiday Classic a week ago where she was named to the all-tournament team in the Diamond Division, Romero Ah-Sam had 18 points, 2 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals in the win over Jesuit as well as 23 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. None of this is surprising because Romero Ah-Sam is a hooper, plain and simple. Clearly as one of the best players in 5A for years now, she is an incredibly smart player with very few weaknesses in her game. She has multiple offers on her table, but is currently uncommitted for next season.
Kasey Booster Kasey Booster 5’8″ | SG Mountain View | 2024 State OR is another mega-talented member of the class of 2024 that is still considering her options for next year. Booster is electric to watch, with her lightning quick steals, her finishing skills around the rim, her court vision and threading the needle to her teammates, her ability to shoot whenever and wherever on the floor, and so much more. She regularly scores 20+ points for the Cougars while also leading them in assists nearly every game and throwing in over 5 rebounds. With her versatility and her IQ, Booster is the kind of player that is every coach’s dream. She has multiple offers to play at the next level, but is currently uncommitted for the 2024-25 season.

Speaking of top players in the state, Ally Schimel Ally Schimel 5’10” | CG Corbett | 2024 State OR has been absolutely dominating at every level during her high school career. Schimel was first team all-state as a sophomore at the 4A level and last year was on the first team once again, this time for 3A after Corbett was realigned. She is making a case as a senior to be the 3A state player of the year so far this season. She started off with an immediate bang, scoring 36 points in the season opener against Stevenson and has not looked back. In their last game, a league showdown with #6-ranked Banks, Schimel put up 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists to help Corbett keep its perfect 12-0 record and its #1 ranking in the state. In terms of versatility, nobody does it better than Schimel, who can run the point or battle it out down in the post with her 5’10 frame for the Cardinals. Schimel has yet to commit to a school for next year.

One of the top point guards in the state, Lauren Buchanan Lauren Buchanan 5’8″ | PG Forest Grove | 2024 State OR is a huge reason why Forest Grove is currently 12-0 and #4 in the state. The ball-savvy Buchanan is a natural point guard who is constantly finding her teammates all over the floor, yet Buchanan is more than capable of making whatever play her team needs, from knocking down her beautiful outside shot to diving on the floor and coming up with a huge steal, she averages in double-digit scoring while nearing double-digits in assists and rebounds most nights. She also earned individual honors at the West Coast Jamboree a week ago where the Vikings won a championship, with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals; 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals; and 32 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in their three games. Buchanan has yet to commit for next season.

Brooke Anderson Brooke Anderson 5’6″ | PG Grants Pass | 2024 State OR is another top 2024 talent still on the board. At the Capitol City Classic tournament right before Christmas, Anderson was named the most valuable player of the Camry Bracket after leading her team to three wins. She continued her excellent play the following week at the POA Holiday Classic where she had 23 points and 5 rebounds against West Salem followed by 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists versus Jesuit. These are typical numbers for Anderson, who averaged over 18 points per game through her first three years of high school. Anderson is a quick, crafty point guard with a pure shot, who can score in any manner of ways: tough finishes at the rim, floaters in the key, mid-range jumpers, or daggers from well beyond the arc. She has elite athleticism that is on full-display on both ends of the floor. Anderson has not committed for next season.
Coming off a junior season on the 4A first team all-state list, Annie Campos Annie Campos 5’8″ | SG Henley | 2024 State OR is making a strong campaign to be the 4A state player of the year as a senior. She has led Henley to a 12-0 start and to the top spot in the state. Through the preseason, Campos was averaging an incredible 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists, which she followed up with a 20-point, 13-rebound, 2-assist, 5-steal performance against Caldera. Campos plays with a smooth, steady confidence that allows her to put up such big numbers so consistently. When she makes up her mind to get to the rim, she is virtually impossible to stop, especially with her soft touch and large repertoire of finishes, yet she can knock it down from deep range as well. She is very savvy on defense, using her length to make big plays including some show-stopping blocks. Campos is one of the top seniors who has not yet committed.
Ranked second in the state in 2A, the Bandon Tigers are poised for a deep postseason run largely thanks to the inspired play of Katelyn Senn Katelyn Senn 5’8″ | CG Bandon | 2024 State OR . Senn, who was first team all-state as a sophomore and was sidelined with injury for a lot of her junior season, has been reminding everyone of her incredible ability to do it all on the basketball court. In three of their most recent games, Senn had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block against North Douglas; 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 steals versus Illinois Valley; and 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals over Oakland. These are typical nights for Senn, who is the Tigers’ top scorer while also often leading in assists and steals and putting up big rebounding numbers. Senn is an impressive athlete with a high motor, which is needed for when opponents throw double-teams her way. Senn is still uncommitted for her college career.
