Expert Analysis
Noelle Mannen | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Written about a few times already this season, Schimel continues to deliver jaw-dropping performances that can’t be ignored. One of the all-around best talents in the state, regardless of classification, the 5’10 star can play any position on the floor for the Cardinals, and is a heavy favorite for state player of the year come season’s end. Coming off an incredible 45-point game against Burns in the opening round of the tournament, Schimel left no doubt that she will be one of the players to watch next weekend as she hopes to lead her team, last year’s runners-up, to a championship.

has been absolutely dominating at every level during her high school career. Schimel was first team all-state as a sophomore at the 4A level and last year was on the first team once again, this time for 3A after Corbett was realigned. She is making a case as a senior to be the 3A state player of the year so far this season. She started off with an immediate bang, scoring 36 points in the season opener against Stevenson and has not looked back. In their last game, a league showdown with #6-ranked Banks, Schimel put up 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists to help Corbett keep its perfect 12-0 record and its #1 ranking in the state. In terms of versatility, nobody does it better than Schimel, who can run the point or battle it out down in the post with her 5’10 frame for the Cardinals. Schimel has yet to commit to a school for next year.
