<p>Last night was the Second Round of the 2024 Playoffs across the state for certain Classes. In the article below, we highlight five players out of the 3A Class that put on a performance in their team's victory. Each prospect made their presence known right from the tip off and because of that, their team is moving onto Round #3.</p>

The Stormin Pointers put on a clinic and were very convincing in this victory. It was an all around group effort but one of their best competitors was Guard, Mya Hillers. Hillers was her teams main offensive producer with 23 Points (7-16), 6 Rebounds, and 3 Steals. If there was a big play last night, Hillers seems to be apart of it. She worked relentlessly on both sides of the ball and her numbers reflect that in the end. Looking forward, this group could take things to the Well. They are good enough to beat some more opponents down the road but they are going to have to play really efficient ball. In this contest, there were 4/5 players for the Panthers that stood out but someone that especially caught my eye was Hailey Henderson. Henderson is interesting to me because of what she might mean to this program down the stretch. We know who the top players from this group are but if Henderson can step up and produce consistently the rest of the way this winter, this team could win a few more games. I think that Benton High School is going to struggle on Saturday night against this Panthers pressure and that is going to lead to a State trip in Des Moines for Monticello. In Kehlmann's Second Round game last night against Garner Hayfield Ventura High School, she ended the contest with 22 Points (5-10), 4 Rebounds, and 9 Assists. Including going 10-12 from the free throw line and 2-3 from behind the three point arc. In a contest that ended with a final score of 70-63, each one of these stats was vital in their efforts, helping them secure a victory and leading them to Third Round matchup with The Des Moines Christian Lions. A battle that is not going to be for the faint of heart. The Bulldogs are a young program, that has some real promise moving forward. If they continue to compete how they have been, they will be relevant the rest of this season and into the near future. As for Kuhlmann individually, she is going to get better with experience but at this point, she has some real promise. Hutcheson is only a Sophomore but she puts up complete stat lines almost every time she takes the floor. In her team's Second Round matchup last night, she registered 8 Points, 8 Rebounds, and 4 Assists, making her mark in more ways than one. The Bulldogs usually have one or two upperclassmen lead them in most categories but Hutcheson does a great job of making her presence felt. Whether that is because of her rebounding or her ability to be in the right place at the right time. In Round Three, the Bulldogs will face-off with Mount Vernon with a chance to go to State on the line. She is a post that understands her balance, footwork, size, and skill-set to a T. She isn't the type of player to try and over-do things or force action that isn't there. She takes what the defense is giving her and because of that, she puts up some big time stat lines while her team wins. In her latest contest, her Harlen Community High School team won against Clarinda High School to move onto the Third Round and Rust had an MVP-type game. When the final whistle blew, she had 25 Points (12-18), 10 Rebounds, and 5 Steals. Not to mention a block or two. I'm not sure where Rust is going to end up after this season comes to a close but I hope she chooses to stick with it and play collegiate ball. She is good enough. She just needs the right system around her and she can flourish.
