In this article, we look at some of these players who raised their level of play from one year to the next. In some cases the difference was like night and day.
Piera Alexander Piera Alexander 5'6" | PG Orange Park | 2024 State FL gets a nod for her change in roles. For several years, I’ve seen her hold it together on the court for her team and not worrying about stats. Alexander was always responsible for breaking the press, handling the ball, running the offense, feeding the post, and setting up the three point shooters. She did that again this season, but also took her scoring to another level. Alexander can drive the ball, rip to the midrange, and also shoot the three. The do all guard averaged 14.5 points per game and close to 4 assists per game. Alexander had a lot of growth on the court and also showed a lot of leadership.

made great improvements this season and really held it down in the paint. Neal didn’t relinquish easy score or rebounds. She made the opponent work for everything. Neal also did a good job of rebounds and scoring on the blocks. One thing noticeable on the court is her basketball IQ and her court and situational awareness. Neal made great strides- all the way to a spot in the State Championships in Lakeland.

(cover) made great strides this season and was really special in big moments. She showed that she could handle the ball, drive the ball, finish at the rim with the left or right, and also shoot the three. Defensively, she was disruptive and very crafty at getting steals and creating turnovers. Dillihay showed a lot of growth and demonstrated a lot of leadership her senior season.
Sharla Adams Sharla Adams 5'9" | PF P:axon | 2024 State FL showed a lot of improvement this season and she more than held her own in the paint. Adams provided a presence in the paint and wasn’t afraid to mix it up. She defended well, rebounded well, and made the opponent work for everything. Her impact can’t be measured in stats, but more so in her attitude and demeanor on the floor and the respect she earned from her opponents. She was a quiet force.
Jasmine Valcin showed a lot of improvement from last year to this season and mainly because she was able to play in her natural position as a combo guard. Valcin showed athleticism that jumped off the roof. She has great speed, great anticipation, great lateral movement, etc. She impacted games that won’t show up in the stat sheet. She often defended the teams best guard and definitely defended the quickest guards.
