Casteel/Higley Notes

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On February 1st the <strong>Casteel Colts</strong> traveled down Power Road to take on the <strong>Higley Knights</strong>. This was a battle of two teams looking to make some noise in the upcoming playoffs. Through the majority of the first three quarters, it was a back-and-forth match between these two. Towards the end of the 3rd quarter, the Colts went on a run that gave them the lead heading into the final quarter. Despite the tough play of Higley, Casteel held on to win the game <strong>58-46</strong>.<br><br><br><strong>Here I take a look at a few of the standout players from this game:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='640378' first='Ava' last='Lewis'] <strong>Casteel</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lewis is a versatile forward who does most of her work in the painted area. She establishes good position in the post and knows how to pass out of double teams. She had the opposing defense off-balance all game. On defense, she's a very good rebounder with active hands blocking shots and deflecting passes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='663048' first='Claire' last='Greenwade'] <strong>Higley</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The freshman point guard was as advertised. She's jet-quick with the ball, constantly putting pressure on the defense. When she's hitting her perimeter shot she's even more dangerous. On defense, she constantly attacks ball handlers causing turnovers. One of the top freshmen in the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='624472' first='Jacqueline' last='Rosado'] <strong>Casteel</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rosado is a physical forward who thrives going downhill. Once she got going it was hard to keep her out of the paint. She spearheaded the comeback in the 2nd half which swung the momentum for her team. She was very efficient in only taking quality shots. I could see why she is the team's leading scorer. <br><br>[player_tooltip player_id='663051' first='Cadence' last='Murdough']<strong> Higley</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another top freshman for the Knights but doesn't play like it. Cadence lets the game come to her instead of taking bad shots. She can shoot it out to the three-point line with confidence. She's very fluid and handles it well for her size. <br><br>[player_tooltip player_id='848702' first='Madison' last='Slaton'] <strong>Casteel</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Slaton is a good-looking guard prospect who knows how to play. She's a good passer and picks her spots well on when to be aggressive. She has range out past the three-point line and gets it off very fast. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
