I caught day 2 of the event. Let’s take a look at some of the versatile athletes who were taking care of the paint.
Coumba Keita
Coumba Keita
Coumba Keita was working hard inside grabbing rebounds on both ends of the court. She knew how to draw defenders towards her opening up the block for her teammate on the other side. She didn’t back down from going up strong with the ball and making it count from the free throw line.
Edina Strausz is so fun to watch with her footwork in the paint. She’s ready to score off the pass, or she can go to work with power dribbles moving her defender where she wants them to go. She consistently uses her wide stance to get into position with and without the ball, and she’s tough on defense being able to block shots.
Jodi King had a dominant second half using power dribbles to score her points in the paint. She didn’t back down from contact making some old fashioned three point plays. She does a nice job expanding the floor knocking down jumpers from around the court, and she can attack the basket off the dribble.
Highlights
Roxy White was attacking the basket going after rebounds with ease. She knew how to move well with the ball showing off some nice handles and footwork to get her tough points off the glass. She hustled up the court scoring on fast breaks being ready for the pass and bucket. Her understanding of help defense was crucial for her team on the other end of the court.

Taeya Steinauer
Taeya Steinauer
Taeya Steinauer had some nice range with her shot hitting multiple in the first half doing the work without the ball to create her space. She was constantly moving and flashing in the paint showing off her midrange, and she used her length to cause some problems on defense, too. She was certainly a threat on all three levels.
Tia Bryant was going to work in the paint showing off a nice finesse with the ball scoring in the paint. She had a tough assignment on defense, and she made sure to be a nuisance making her opponents work for the ball. She hustles back on defense being ready to block some shots in transition.
Makayla Carney was constantly moving to get the open look whether she was inside the paint or she was coming up to set a screen for her teammates. She was an asset on both ends grabbing rebounds. She was making some nice moves flashing in and out of the paint to catch the pass and go to work earning some trips to the free throw line.
