LaPlata Tournament Semifinals Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Girls Hoops Missouri took a look at the semifinals of the LaPlata Tournament. In the first game, No. 1 seed Canton defeated North Shelby. Host LaPlata defeated Scotland County in the second game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Canton and LaPlata will meet for the championship today. Here are some of those talented small school players that caught our attention in those two games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2024</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='645077' first='Macie' last='Fisher'] (Canton): A 5'9 guard who excels at both ends of the court. She used her length and athleticism to block shots and get deflections. She was blocking perimeter jumpers. She is a solid slasher who was hitting high-arching shots from 3-point range.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Emma Hultz (Canton): The senior sharpshooter was lighting it up from long distance against North Shelby. She started off with a nice elbow jumper, then she started to break loose from 3-point range. She could wheel and deal in the lane for a bucket and she was also good at drawing contact and getting to the free throw line. She was also active on defense at the top of the full court press.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kwyn Hamlin (Scotland County): A 5'8 guard who has excellent athleticism and driving ability. She attacks the bucket well as she was always probing the lane. She has a nice hesitation move that freezes defenders. She also scores in the post well as she holds her position well and finishes strong.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Claire Coy (LaPlata): A solid wing player who scored 20 points in the semifinal win over Scotland Co. She is a very effective scorer from 15 feet and in. She was consistently in the right position on the floor to get a steal or an offensive rebound. She does a good job of passing her teammates open. She was lighting it up from 3-point range and her range was extended. She was coming off screens and running in transition to knock down shots.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ashlynn Lewis (LaPlata): The young point guard is the consummate floor leader who really passes the ball well. She has good zip on her passes as she hits her teammates right in the shooting pocket. She also plays the passing lanes well for steals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ally Rich (North Shelby): A young point guard who did a nice job shooting the ball from distance off the catch. She was also a solid ball handler who distributes the ball. She immediately blocked two shots on the perimeter when he came in. She was also screening well to get teammates open.
