Over the next couple of weeks, I will be releasing my annual All-State teams for each of the four school classifications. In the meantime, I wanted to turn the focus on some ladies who played well after Christmas this 2023-2024 season. Below is a look at five such ladies who I felt stood out with their play in January and February.

– Carley has always been such a nice athlete who can affect a game in a number of ways. She has tremendous length, wiry strength, a motor, and she is a great attacking style of player who seemingly gets to the basket anytime she wants. Her perimeter shooting has improved a little, but that’s made up for with great defense, rebounding, and the ability to even slide over and run offense from time to time.

, 2025, 5-8 PG, Center Grove H.S.
– Center Grove was loaded and as balanced as anyone this season. Lilly was a huge part of their success, and at no time was it more evident than in the Semi-State final against Lawrence Central. Center Grove had an 8-point lead over Lawrence Central late in the 3rd quarter. Lilly rolled her ankle and had to leave, then Lawrence Central went on a 16-4 run and eventually won. Lilly is the perfect floor general. She is skilled, aware, and effortful every game.

– Ellie has always been a very good perimeter shooter, and she shot the lights out throughout the end of the season and their state tournament run. But she also showed an improved handle, and she was great in attack mode off the bounce. She wants to go left, but she’s difficult to stop from getting there because she gets defenders off-balance. She also has a fairly strong frame, nice length, and she’s a well-balanced athlete.

Andrean | 2025

, 2025, 6-1 C, Andrean H.S.
– During her first two years, Maddie was more of a rebounder/defender type of post. While she continues to do those things at a high level, she has also become a much more effective scorer this year. She has tremendous length, a wiry-strong frame, good bounce, and she’s willing to play with physicality. She does a really nice job of scoring on post touches and working to get offensive rebound putbacks. She was a monster inside during the tournament.
Vanessa Wimberly

Lake Central | 2025
State

, 2025, 5-5 PG, Lake Central H.S.
– Vanessa was especially good for the Indians throughout their run to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. In the Semi-State game against Noblesville, she saved them at times with big shot after big shot. Other times it was her ability to take care of the basketball, or attack the basket and collapse defenses to find open teammates. She is extremely long at her height, quick, fast, and feisty. She also defends with a motor and can really lock up opponents.
