Continue ReadingStandout performance vs. Centreville in a quarterfinal loss, led her team with 20pts and 14 rebounds. Good hands around the basket, hunts after rebounds and was a threat from the hi-low set. Peyton has great size at 6’1, she is athletic and defensively is able to guard a range of positions. Averaged 9.7 pts and 10.5 rebounds on the year, with 10 double-doubles on the season. Looking forward to seeing her continued development during the AAU season.
Mia is leading her team to another deep run in the state playoffs again after securing the region championship. She is the most dominate player in the state. A matchup nightmare for opponents. Mia is a relentless rebounder, great size and extremely athletic. She is a skilled, fierce competitor who puts up big numbers nightly no matter the defense thrown at her.
Confident shooter, torched the net from 3pt land shooting 5-7 on the night. Contributed 17 points and 4 rebounds in a quarterfinal win. One of the best shooters in the state, smooth stroke with consistent form on each shot. She sprints the floor and has great footwork and ready to shoot on the catch. She can shoot off the dribble, with/without a screen and moves into open space when her teammates drive.
I have watched Payton several times this season and continue to be impressed with her athleticism, explosive first step and ability to finish contested layups. Hard to believe she is only a freshman. Aggressive on ball defender and active on the boards, she showed very good lateral quickness maintains good defensive position and is hard to beat off the dribble. Offensively, she is dangerous in transition slicing through defenders and can finish with contact. First team all-region selection, she is not just a scorer she impacts the game on both ends and is a stat sheet stuffer. Finished quarterfinal game with 14 pts, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.
Highlights
Another good 3pt shooter in the 2026 class. Samia was 6-7 from behind the arc scoring 19pts on the night in a win against Oakton. Samia is a competitor, she harasses opposing ball handlers and is scrappy chasing down loose balls. An extension of the coach on the floor, she continues to develop her court vision and is an excellent ball handler. I first watched her play over the summer in a showcase and have seen growth in her control and pace of the game. She doesn’t force shots offensively and looks to facilitate first and score within the flow of the game. Another talented young athlete, I look forward to watching her continued growth over the AAU season.

Emily Gorrell
Emily Gorrell
In an electric home atmosphere, Emily shined as one of the brightest stars. As much talent as she displayed on the court contributing 15 points, 9 rebounds and six assists in the win; she was just as committed to celebrating her teammates. She celebrated every made basket with constant cheering and fist pumping and constant encouragement for her teammates. On the court, she pushed the ball in transition looking for the best team shot.
Another standout player in the class of 2026; 6’1 forward, Annsley is a formidable presence for the Abingdon Falcons. Annsley can hit the outside shot or attack off the bounce and uses her strength to power between defenders to finish through contact in paint. Utilizes good footwork in the paint and establishes great position. She is an aggressive rebounder, good passer and all around highly skilled player. This sophomore standout holds multiple division 1 offers and already reached the 1000pt milestone earlier this month.

Avery Bradley
Avery Bradley
In class 1 quarterfinals, Avery led her team to an easy victory scoring a game high 18 points. Avery is unselfish, great outlet passer and tough defender. She gets out in transition to finish easy layups and is a lock from the 3pt line. She is leading a determined and focused Buffalo Gap squad seeking a spot in the state championship game.
